Happy Scrappy Scarf Kits (Updated)

Hey Hey, Just wanted to stop in an say that I just added some new Happy Scrappy Scarf Kits to the Etsy shop. Lots of people have asked about them, and I did my best to e-mail or convo you if you did. I figured a blog post might help if I missed anyone.

Jan 12th, Scarf kits are sold out in the Etsy shop. Send me an e-mail or convo me on Etsy if you would like to be notified when I get some more kits made up. I hoping it will be in 1 to 1 1/2 weeks. I'm so excited you like them :)

Beads, Camper, and Painting

Hey, Hey, How are ya? Summer is in full force here and one minute it is loads of fun, lots of parties, get togethers, vacations, and trailer re-dos. Then... it's trying to cram a full weeks work in around all that fun that gets me frazzled. I peaked in to the Etsy shop last week and realized there were no beads. Yikes! I couldn't believe it. No worries, there are lots in there now.

I couldn't believe all of the comments about our new camper Lucy, thanks! Around here I have coined the term "camper brain" it's where you should be doing things like cleaning, laundry, or working and you can't do anything but camper stuff. Nik and I have a huge case of camper brain right now. We have been ripping out wet and smelly paneling lately. It's a gross and dirty job but it's the first thing that needs to be done.

One thing I am doing for work is painting. There's a deadline coming up for some design work. It's not a done deal that this company will use my work so I am doing lots of painting and designing to present to them. But I am excited about the opportunity and am having lots of fun in the process.

End of Summer

 Morning! How is everyone out there in blog land? I feel kind of out of my element blogging this morning, it's been awhile. Summer is winding down here and so we have been doing lots of end of the summer cramming. You know, trying to get in all those things you swore you were going to do when you were staring down the start of summer. It's been a good one, but no one ever really wants it to end, right?

 I have also been very busy in the studio, working on a new fabric line, so far it's titled "number six" because that's what line it will be be! I am still in disbelief. Don't worry it will have a different name. I've got a few I'm tossing around. I have to have everything finalized next week so it's good that these boys are getting back to school.

I have also been sewing like a mad woman. If you have been following me in Instagram or seeing them in the blog side bar, you might have seen a few sneak peeks of projects. I am starting to accumulate quite a pile. Some will be on the blog, some will be new patterns, and some are just for me. I will share lots soon. I just need to remember to bring my camera in the sewing studio.

I also have been loading up the Etsy shop with goodies. I've added some Halloween and Christmas, it's that time of the year to start on your projects. Plus some Crafty pendants made it in the shop as well. I just photographed a big ol batch of new and standard Jennifer Jangles pieces to get in the shop this week. I am going to attempt teaching Fletcher how to edit my photos. He's a computer and video game guy so I thought this could be good computer experience beyond gathering coins and racing toads. I've got my fingers crossed he enjoys it because it takes me forever to do.

Sale in Etsy Shop

Hello! Just a quick note to let you know I just marked down a whole, and I mean whole, bunch of items in my Etsy shop. Holiday Projects start in a couple of weeks and I am making room.

I debate this with my self all of the time, so now I will ask all of you... How many items do you like to see in an Etsy shop? Are you overwhelmed when it's a lot? Or do you want more choices?

What about supplies and gifts? I am thinking about adding supplies that go along with my projects. Good or bad idea? Gifts? Too confusing?

I would love to hear what you think. Whether it's shopping in my Etsy shop or whether it's your own shop.

New Etsy Items

Good morning!

Finally, finally...new work in the Etsy shop. wahoo!

So we made it through the first day of school. Everyone was a little tired and grumpy last night. But the boys were up early this morning and excited about going to school again, whew! Fletcher even set his own alarm fifteen minutes earlier than usual so he could get up and shower before us. It was great, but really, is that going to ever happen again? Probably not, I will enjoy it while I can. I made all kinds of things yesterday in the studio. Believe it or not, I was working on Christmas! Yikes, those ten holiday projects start sooner than you can imagine so I am getting my plan together early this year. I am also working on having all of my web store items in stock and ready to ship. I am getting really close to having it all. I have only managed to do this twice in all of my years in business. I'm telling you this organization thing rocks. Come back tomorrow and I'm going to have a sneak peek of the store, I am really happy with how it's coming together. Good morning...

So a few days ago I wrapped up my two new sewing patterns. I was so happy because they and a couple other projects were consuming all of my time. It was such a great feeling to be finished. We left for our mini vacation and I was relaxed.

Monday night Nik and I were talking about how time was flying by and "How could it be mid April already?" Wait a minute mid-April? What...how did that happen? You have seen my calender you know I have been using it but for some reason I was a little oblivious to the fact that it was indeed mid April. Quilt Market is in one month!

My booth was quite an elaborate one last time and I spent a good three months with it in my garage. Now one month before the show and I have a white sheet hanging on one of the walls and nothing else. I am in panic mode now, I don't work well under pressure. I hate pressure. So it gets worse, I am flying to Salt Lake City for teh show so I am shipping my booth to the show. If you have ever done a trade show in the past you know you have deadlines and they are usually early. I called and talked logistics with the company. It turns out I need to ship my booth by the 25th! In 11 days! AAAAH!

As a result...I forgot to set my alarm for the boys to get up for school, I forgot to send lunch money to school, I missed my turn and drove and extra 15 miles down the highway before I realized I missed my exit for baseball practice, and on and on... Completely a mess here, all I can think about is the booth.

I think I have come up with a plan a plan that will surely change. I can't give away booth details because at Quilt Market they have awards for best booths. Not that at this late in the game I have a chance at winning but I still want the design to be a surprise. I will say this, I am going dumpster diving today in hopes of finding display materials....keep you posted on that one. :)

One more thing before I go....I am trying something new today. I needed a picture for this post, gotta have a picture right? Well I have never put this jar up online anywhere and I knew that if I did, I would get asked if I was going to sell these in the Etsy shop. I have seen these neat buttons so you can sell like on Etsy but just on your blog. I thought I would try it out, if it works that would be great because I have lots of one of a kinds that I would love to show. There is one Cherry box and if you click on the "buy one" button it will take you to Paypal just like you're shopping in Etsy. Super cool eh? If it doesn't say "buy one" then it has sold.

Fat Quarters

Happy Saturday!

Remember I did a quilt show a couple of weeks ago? Well I have a few fat quarters still left from the show and I thought I would get them in the Etsy shop. This is all of the Happy fabric I left. If you need larger pieces I know there are lots of great fabric shops out there with the Happy fabric still available. If you just want to snatch up a few fat quarters this is the place and time.

Lots To Do

Hey, Hey! If I am a bit non existent in blog land this week be sure I am still around. I leave for Bead and Button in a week and a half. There are so many things to do, like make more of those cute little bird house pendants above. Today is the day for that, and starfish, and flowers. I will do my best to get some up on Etsy before I leave.

Last week was Quilt Market also. I didn't go this time because I just have my fabric designs on paper. But this October I will be traveling to the show in Houston to exhibit. I will be showing off my fabrics and buttons to the quilt world. I am anxiously waiting to hear what everyone thought of my fabric. I will also be reading lots of blogs this week to see all of the great new fabric from other designers that debuted this week also. So much fun! By the way, I will have my fabic book at the Bead and Button show so if you want to see them in person, just ask when you stop by the booth.

Okay, got to make some pancakes for one of the little guys before I head out to the studio....

It's Hot!

I am slowly but surely adding things to my Etsy shop. I have posted before about how I photograph my beads. It's outside in the sun at noon. It's going to be 100 degrees here today and it's been pretty close to that all week plus if you add in the humidity, uck, it's awful. Therefore, I am doing my best to get new beads photographed but I can only manage to get a handful done everyday. So keep checking the Etsy store...

Things are growing around here...

Oh boy, I went away for a couple of weeks and everything seemed to multiply! Our garden has exploded. Here my old post where I showed you a picture of the garden after we had just planted it. We have since then harvested, collard greens, onions, lettuce, and tomatoes. We are even replanting some rows that we have used up. Yep we eat a lot of veggies, we're vegetarians. Anyway the basil, tomatoes, and tomatillos are starting to explode now. We plan on making loads of salsa and pasta sauces this summer.
Here's another growing thing. My puppy. Here is the old post of this little guy. Hard to believe that was in January and it is now June. He is seven months old now and quite huge. We thought we were getting a 30 pound beagle! Hmm... but we adore him anyway, he is a great dog and is already at 50 pounds and climbing. Too bad he doesn't eat vegetables, we've got plenty.


Speaking of growing, there's one more thing. It's my Etsy shop! Woohoo! I have added some great new things that I don't have on the web site. I also included my glass bead mixes with the beads so all you need to do is string something up. No guess work with colors. I have plans to keep growing my Etsy shop over the next few weeks so keep watching.

Getting Ready

Good Morning!
Boy this is going to be a quick post today. I am swamped. My bead making class and trunk show in Miami is in two weeks. I am getting ready for it. It's my first bead event of the year, geez, I haven't done a bead show since July! It always takes a lot to get ready for the first one. All of my supplies are scattered and it takes awhile to find them and to remember what all I need. Throw in teaching a class on top of it and I am in panic mode.

I know you're probably thinking isn't two weeks before a show a little early to be panicking? For normal people, yes. I don't work well under pressure so I have to get things done early. In college, I would write my papers three weeks before they were due. Weird huh?

Yeah! It's ornament Thursday! I love ornament Thursday.

I am really happy the way this ornament turned out. I bought some 2" wooden wheels at the craft store, got out my markers, beads, and nails and went to work. The first thing I did was pre-drill eight holes for the nails. I tried just hammering in the nails but these wood wheels were really dense, it might work on another type of wood but not for me on these. Okay, next I drew circles with markers, pretty easy right? Then I dug around and found some 2 inch finishing nails, they are nice because finishing nails are pretty skinny allowing most beads to slide on. I did put a dab of glue on the end of each nail before sliding it into the whole. I figure I am going to have this ornament for a long time and so I should make it sturdy. Last to make it a hanging ornament, I wrapped a piece of silver wire around the top of one of the nails and then made a hook on the other end. I want to make more. I think these would be too cute hung all together on a garland across the mantle.
