New Notebooks and More

So I am a bit obsessed with notebooks. I always have one with me. They are great for jotting down ideas, lists, and more. These are four notebooks I had made at my local print shop. They are small and fit in your purse kind of notebooks measuring 4.25" x 5". I got some extras made up just in case you needed some notebooks as well. You can find them in the Jennifer Jangles shop and Etsy store.

Then while I was sprucing up the shops I decided to create some wholesale packs. You don't have to be a store to purchase these. I have grouped them together in larger quantities and then marked them down.

I went ahead and did the same thing with buttons. You'll find some great buttons packs in there as well.

Peppermint Pendants Tutorial

Welcome to Holiday Project Number Two! Here's the how-to......

Supplies Needed:

1 Ceramic Striped Tube Pendant

2-3 Faceted Czech Glass beads measuring 6-10mm in size

Approximately 6 inches fairy ribbon

1 brass eyepin 2 inches

3 brass jump rings 6mm

20inches brass chain

1 brass clasp

Instructions:

1. Slide the Czech beads onto the headpin. Finish the end of the headpin with a loop to match the other side of the eyepin.

2. Connect one end of the eyepin to the ceramic pendant. Connect the remaining side to a 10 inch section of chain.

3. Add the second piece of chain to the opposite side of the pendant using a jump ring.

4. Tie a small bow with the fairy ribbon on the chain just above the jump ring.

5. Add the clasp and jump ring on the chain ends to complete the necklace.

You're finished! Hope you had fun.

Jennifer Heynen Beads in Michael's Stores

They are here! I can finally spill the beans. This has been a top secret project for so long, that my family and close friends didn't believe it was going to happen. Four year ago, Michael's and I started talking about a potential line of ceramic beads. There have been a few delays and lots of back and forth approvals to bring these beads to each and every Michael's store.

Here's a cheesy picture of me, trying to photograph myself in front of the beads.

Here's a picture of one of the glaze testing boards. This is one of many samples that went back and forth. I'm kind of picky about my colors and Michael's nailed them. I don't know f I should be showing these behind the scenes things online so don't tell anyone you saw these.

 Some of the beading tutorials can be translated into other beads.  For instance just above is my Swing Necklace Tutorial. I love this one and use it a lot. I used the same technique to make the Halloween necklace that I listed in Etsy yesterday. I like to keep thinks simple when it comes to beading. Hopefully you'll find some inspiration here.

As for the sewing projects, I only have two so far, but I am working on more as week speak. I am soooo happy I finally figured out the PDF file thing. Seriously my husband and I have tried so many times to make a PDF with a link it's my biggest accomplishment of the week or maybe month.

Besides that we're just chugging along here at the studio. Make, glaze, fire, repeat. :) I'm also getting ready for a talk next week. I will be giving a short run through of how I design fabric at the Lake Oconee Quilt Guild. I will also have a trunk show before and after the talk. Beads and Such

Hello,

How's it going out in blog land? It's alright here in Jennifer Jangles land. I just unloaded a kiln full of beads and buttons. I love to sort through all of the pieces when they have just come out of the kiln. It's fun to see everything. A lot of this will be shipped off but there are some beads in there for the Etsy shop, some buttons for the store, and some new work for playing around with. I can't wait to get to those.

I can't stand it any longer, I'm going to go sit with my beads now....

Beads, Beads, Beads

Whew... I have been making beads non stop for three days now. Only three weeks left until Bead and Button, so this is a major production time for me. You see every year I swear that this is the year I will do it different. I will start early making my stock and I will have plenty of beads for the show. Well this year is no different from the past, I am working at full speed to get beads made. But I have to say, I am super excited about some new stuff that is coming out of my head right now. I have all kinds of new ideas and the result if that will be at the show. I also, got my new sheet of stamps yesterday! Oh I love some of those too. EEk! I wish I could show you my beads but there's nothing completely finished yet. Next week is glaze week so hopefully by the end of it I can give you some sneak peeks.

Okay I am off to make my large cup of coffee and hunker down to make some more beads today......everyone have a good one, Jennifer

Ah.....Memories

So it was just Birkley's Birthday and I am reminded every year when it comes around of how my life changed when he was born. You know, I have an older son, so I was already a mother and not sleeping. Motherhood was a huge change in my life, but I am talking beads here. This is a blog about beads, you know. Here is my story.....

From a few posts back you know that I used to make tiles and mosaics. So fast forward five years into making tiles and glass bead making was becoming really popular. I had always felt that glass was my calling, even though I had never tried it. I just had a feeling. Cindy Jenkins had just written Making Glass Beads and was selling a kit to go with the book. I got it for my birthday and started right away. I loved it but the beads weren't that great. So one night sitting at the torch it came to me that I should be making ceramic beads. At the time, I was unaware of the "Bead World", as I like to call it. So I didn't realize there were other people out there making them like Mealnie Brooks Lukacs or Joan Miller. I came up with some beads and started making jewelry. I went to the Chicago giftmart with my jewelry and sold them there. After a year and a half of making my jewelry I was expecting and couldn't go to the giftmart. I wouldn't be able to fill orders with a new baby. I needed something to do while I was at home with the two little ones. I had heard of this show called Bead and Button and it was in my back yard, I thought I would give it a try. Bead and Button was only in it's second year so I really had no idea what I was getting into. Birk was born and six weeks later, I was at my first bead show. I did great and the beads took off from there. Every year I am reminded when Birk turns another year older that Bead and Button is right around the corner. I can't believe this is going to be my fifth year at the show. Boy time flies. It also reminds me that I need to get to work making beads for the show!
