New Earrings

Just whipped up a new pair of earrings with some of my new charms in the Etsy shop. They have a lot going on but they were super easy to make. Those a 6mm faceted Czech beads strung onto a headpin and then attached to the five loops at the charm bottoms. Easy Peasey...

Stay tuned for a new necklace...

Free Quilt Pattern

A Free Quilt pattern for my Tussie Mussie fabric can be found here. In The Beginning puts out a free quilt project with every line of fabric they produce. They just posted mine to their blog so you can download it and start sewing. Super cute!

Have a great day,

Tussie Mussie Is Here!

It has arrived! All 28 bolts made it to the store yesterday wahoo! If you are not local I have heard from lots of quilt shops that theirs has arrived as well.

So lot's of changes going around at the store so I thought I would snap some photos. I have had a few big design deadlines and I am finishing them up. Lots of tweaking and cleaning up to be done on my fifth fabric line but the designs are wrapping up. With all of the wrapping up I am seeing time on the horizon for making more beads and filling the gallery.

One of the big changes at the studio is the end of kids classes. I am so sad about this one, but not surprised in the least. We were scheduled to have one more session before a summer break but baseball and soccer start in the next few weeks. They are such a great group of kids I will miss seeing them and their work.
Also, remember my word for the year? Clear. Well I had a couple hours last week where I found my self at the store with nothing to do. I started cleaning out the storage room. I have two new sewing patterns in the works and I have got to make some space for all of the boxes that will be arriving in a couple of months. Here's a pile of things to find a home for, yay!

I need to start working on my Quilt Market booth for May so I have been looking around to see if there is any space to set up a booth. It's really hard for me to plan a space when I can't physically walk around in it. And if I can find a space, it's the same size of my Bead and Button booth so I am playing around with new design ideas for it as well. I need to mix it up for that show as well.

What spring projects do you have going on?

Have a great day,

Colorful Ceramic Necklace

Whew! New work! I feel like I have been working on these ideas for a very long time. I love all of the bright colors, color blocking, and geometrics shapes coming into fashion these days. I hope these trends stick a long for a very long time.

I have also been wanting to make some jewelry that is almost entirely ceramic. It's not something I have done in a long time and it's so much fun. I had a ball stringing up this necklace with all the bright beads. I have worn this necklace several times now and get lots of comments on it. I think I will wear it today as well. You always need a good Friday necklace right?

I decided to try something new in the Etsy shop as well. Typically I would put all of the pieces to make this necklace together in a set. But it seemed like there is so much to mix and match with these beads that I wanted everyone to have a choice to make it their own. I put single and pairs of beads in the shop this time. We'll see how it goes. I always like to experiment. :)
By the way, I painted up some new cup and saucers as well. I have my eye on the turquoise and red one... if it doesn't sell soon, it might be my new mocha mug.

Have a great day!

Color Choices

Hi there!
I've been working on some new designs and I need some certain colors. Glazes are tricky things and if you don't have the exact color you need well then you have to mix it. Sounds easy enough, but here's where the problem lies. Glazes look different in the bottle than when they come out of the kiln. I spent yesterday finding finished glaze samples of the two colors I wanted to mix together. Then I would think how much green do I want to add to the blue? I would add it and then have to go with my gut on whether it was going to come out of the kiln like I was hoping for. Geez, I used a lot of brain cells yesterday. Now the kiln has been fired and I am waiting for it to cool. Of course I put the samples on the bottom of the kiln so it won't be until late this afternoon before they come out. I will have to spend the day waiting and wondering....

While I am waiting and wondering, I will also spend it photographing new beads!I have been trying to get to this for ever, but I didn't want to do it until I had everything I wanted. Sometime in the next few days I will get the Etsy shop loaded up with some new work. I am going to add some standards back into the shop as well as brand spanking new work, that, by the way, I am super in love with!

Stay tuned, I will let you blog followers know first about the new work.
Have a great day,
Jennifer

Tussie Mussie is Coming

 Hello, Hello,

Any day now Tussie Mussie will be arriving to stores. I can't wait! I always get a few sample yards of each fabric before and have been sewing up samples. I am getting closer to having them finished up, I just need buttons. Know where I can get some? Hee hee, seriously, I had to make some for what I needed and they are in the kiln. I have been so busy filling bead and button orders that I just haven't had time to make extra stock.

I want to get my pattern samples made up so I can sew a quilt for myself. I can't settle on a design though. I'll keep thinking while I am sewing my other things.
Here a picture of my sad, sad fabric shelves in the gallery. I hardly have anything left. I promise to let you know as soon as it arrives to my shelves as well.

Thank you for everyone who made my Etsy Clearance sale a success! I cleared a lot, now I am working to clear some things out of my store. I also want to clear out some of my display pieces, I am still figuring out how to go about that one. But I have a entire room full of display trays, busts, shelves, you name it. It's a bit ridiculous, especially if you think about how much is already in my store that's being used. Would you put those kinds of things on Ebay? Anyone have any ideas?

Have a Happy Friday!
