Studio Re-Do and a Sample and De-Stash Sale

Lot's going on here at the Jennifer Jangles studio. I just wrapped up five big projects in August, whew! I can tell you that I filmed and edited a video class for The Sewing Party where I'll be teaching Nov. 8th, designed two fabric lines, and completed two other projects that I just can't tell you about yet. In the midst of all of that I decided it was time to move studios. What? Seriuosly, if you went through this blog and saw all of the studios that I have had....

Here's what has happened, first off all we considered moving last year for more space but we love our neighborhood and yard. Nik wasn't exactly on board with the idea either, but he was willing to consider it. So instead we decided that we would make this house exactly how we wanted it. First up was the kitchen, it's almost finished and then I will snap some photos. We didn't do the kitchen ourselves but the plan was finished the kitchen and then we would work on the rest of the house. We have a giant list in order of how we will do things but pretty much every room is getting something done to it.

Since the kitchen is almost finished and I couldn't be patient any longer I started on the studio. The plan is to convert the garage into my studio, it's warm here and we never park in it. My biggest problem with my studio was the lack of windows and the garage has one (right now). I have plans to put in a door and another window on that wall. I'll give you more details and photos when the time comes. As you can see I have a huge pile in the center for donations, yep this is how I've been spending my weekends.

I have been pinning all sorts of studio ideas over on Pinterest. This is my favorite and it was a garage before it was her studio.

This leads me to my Sample and De-Stash Sale. I have some BIG business plans for the fall and I need to make better use of my space. First things first...I had to declutter. I have un-earthed so many beads from my book and magazine articles,

so many pieces of jewelry from my old gallery,

supplies from my old gallery,

and lots of sewn samples of projects.

It's kind of ridiculous and part of me wants to keep every thing but my practical side says I can't.

I have been photographing, editing, and listing for three days now. I'm getting close to be finished and I have decided this sale will start tomorrow at noon EST. There are over 200 listings that will be in the Etsy shop. Tons of them are 5.00, can't go wrong with that price right? Just trying to clear the studio.....

I hope to see you there and i promise to keep you updated on the studio re-do.

Website Renovations and an End of Summer Sale

Hi! Woot woot we are getting close to kicking off the last weekend of summer. I hope you've got big plans. I am celebrating the weekend as well as my website updates. It's been a long process, but they are finished. If you want to head over and see what the new place is looking like that would be awesome. I would love to hear what you think. Did I miss anything?

And since it's the end of summer, I'm doing a bit of clearing out of the shops. There's loads of beads, buttons, patterns and more. I need to make room for some new everyday, fall, and holiday items coming out of the studio soon. Starting today and running thru Monday use the coupon Summer20 to receive 20% off all of your orders in the new Jennifer Jangles web store and the Jangles Etsy Shop.

I'm sorry I can only offer this discount on new retail orders only and not on custom items or wholesale.

So get out and enjoy the long weekend!

May Wrap Up, Important Dates, and a SALE

May is over and I am doing my best to do a monthly wrap up of the best blog posts so if you missed anything, you might catch it here. Also, I'm having a sale this week and I'm taking a work-cation from the shops so make sure you get to the bottom of this post for the those dates and more importantly, the coupon code.

Here are the highlights from May....

I didn't travel but was well represented at Surtex in New York City and at Quilt Market in Portland this month. Both shows happened to be on the same weekend this year...busy...busy.

There were several new tutorials added to the blog in May, they were....

I also updated you on my latest crochet project.

There was more and you can always go through the archives and see them all, but for now these are the highlights of May.

Now on to dates. I am taking a work-cation. That means I will be working for the next few weeks but I won't be shipping anything from the shops, I will be slow returning e-mails, etc. I'll still be doing some posting, instgraming, face booking, you know, I can't stay completely away. But the shops Etsy and Jenniferjangles.com will be closed June 7th until the 24th. If you place an order in that time, I will ship it on June 25th.

In the meantime...if you've had you eye on something and you want to grab it up before then, here's a coupon to entice you.... 25% off everything in the Etsy shop. 25Sale is the code to use at checkout. I just went in an marked down  some of the items and the 25% off can be used for additional savings. I would love it if I could have my shop emptied before Thursday. So I appreciate any of you who help me to to that. :)

Well here's to June! Hope it's a good one for you,

Buy One Get One Free

These lollipops were in the Quilts and More Summer Fall issue 2012. I have several kits left in the Etsy shop and I figure they can't stay there much longer so I am putting them on sale. Starting now, they are officially Buy One Get One Free. Unfortunately, Etsy doesn't have this option in the checkout so I will refund the second kit before I ship your order.

Even if you don't want to make a lollipop, you get a couple of squares of fabric and a 1" button. You could make a cute little zipper pouch with the supplies. Instructions for a pouch are here.

When they are gone they are gone so get them now.

Happy Friday!

Put It In Writing

Hey, Hey....seriously it's going to be February this week, what happened to January. I knew it was going to be a busy one, but now my January work is going to flow into February. It just didn't get done. For as long as I can remember I have been having a clearance sale in January. I planned on having one this January too and I will, just barely. I am working fast and furious to get all of the items listed. There is a ton of stuff. Beads, buttons, jewelry, pottery, oh the list goes on. It's going to be big. The only way I am actually going to get this baby up and running is to put it in writing. So that's what I am doing right now. It's going to start tomorrow evening at 8:00 pm EST. There it has been announced, there's no turning back!

So check it out...you won't believe the prices, if you have ever shopped my clearance sale before you will know, things are cheap. Remember my word this year is "Clear" so this will help literally clear my studio.

So maybe I will see you tomorrow night? But for now enjoy the rest of January.

Sale in Etsy Shop

Hello! Just a quick note to let you know I just marked down a whole, and I mean whole, bunch of items in my Etsy shop. Holiday Projects start in a couple of weeks and I am making room.

I debate this with my self all of the time, so now I will ask all of you... How many items do you like to see in an Etsy shop? Are you overwhelmed when it's a lot? Or do you want more choices?

What about supplies and gifts? I am thinking about adding supplies that go along with my projects. Good or bad idea? Gifts? Too confusing?

I would love to hear what you think. Whether it's shopping in my Etsy shop or whether it's your own shop.

Thanks for your help!

Happy Summer

Photobucket

Happy Summer!

I sent out a newsletter earlier in the week and let everyone know about a summer sale I am having. I realized I should mention it to you blog readers too. Everything at the Jennifer Jangles website is 10% off until the 30th. You just have to enter the code Summer10 in the coupon box to receive your discount.

See my flowers above? Those came from my garden. They are my zinnias, I am loving them and I keep cutting them and filling vases and everyday I have more. They are all sorts of colors so everyday it's a surprise to see whats going to bloom. I have about 20 more that need to be cut this morning! It wasn't so long ago that they were these little guys.

P.S. The super cool pitcher was made my one of my favorite potters, Carter Gillies, you can find his work at Good Dirt, if you're ever in Athens.

Have a great day,

Studio Re-do

Hey Hey,

I just found out that I am going to get to paint my studio this weekend! Wahoo. Not that I am really excited about painting, it's more that I am excited to get things back to normal. I scored a paint chip fan book thingy at a thrift sale last weekend. I bought it just to have all those colors in one place, I thought it could be handy for designing fabric. It never crossed my mind that I might actually use it for selecting paint. I found myself searching through it last night. I think I came up with a pretty cool combo. More on that later...

In the meantime, I have been thinking about the things I like and don't like about my studio. It's not that anything was really bad, it's just here's my chance to tweak things. In the last studio I did a lot of painting on the walls. I have some big flowers painted on one wall, some stripes, and some dots. I have found that it really gets lost in there. Plus, I found myself always rearranging to not cover up certain elements. This time the walls will be solid and then the focus will be more on what's in the place.

I also found I have no where to store finished projects. When it was jewelry only, I had a tabletop with some stands and that was enough to hold and display it. Now that I have been doing more mixed media and sewing, the projects are bigger and piling up. I need some shelves.

The lighting has never been good. Since I had an electrician in the studio the other day we spoke about my lighting options. I am going to go look tonight and see what I can find. but I am thinking track lights.

I would also like a giant bulletin board. When I was designing my first line of fabrics I found myself taping printed papers out in any flat surface. I need to let things hang for awhile so I can walk by and think about them. I also would like a place to hang quilts in progress. I am thinking a big foam board covered in flannel would double as a bulletin board and a quilt layout board.

And one last thing, I need a better sewing area. I am hoping for some kind of sewing table on wheels. Something gigantic. I find myself using my big studio table all of the time for the project du jour. I would like a couple big tables like that so I can have more than one thing going on.

Now fitting all of these things in to my studio is going to be difficult. I am guessing there will be lots of rearranging to get it right.

Whew! Let's see it's Friday and sometimes I do a give away but let's do something different today. How about 25% off of retail sales in the Etsy shop? I will take the discount and send you an updated invoice or I can credit your paypal account with the 25%. The sale will run through until Monday at 6:00 am.

Have a great weekend!

Studio Clean Out Sale

Hey Hey... Finally got my stuff together and came up with a plan about this Clean Out Sale. I worked hard this morning editing photos and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. So now I am happy to announce my clean out sale will begin Tuesday the 12th. I am planning on getting things all loaded into the Etsy shop by 10:00am.

If you haven't shopped my annual first of the year clean out sales before....oh boy are you in for a treat! I go through my studio and fins all of the beads I have made throughout the year. (There are loads). There's nothing wrong with them, they just didn't get added to a project, or a kit, or in some cases I am just too lazy to find a spot for them on my bead table. Instead of hanging onto these beads, I would much rather send them on to you. The prices on Etsy are the sale prices so to make it fair for everyone I won't be adding them to the shop until Tuesday morning. Once they are gone they are gone, so get ready!

Have a super great, and probably cold, weekend!

January, uh I mean February Clearance

Hi ya! This is going to be a super short post today. I am working fast and furious to get my Etsy items marked for my gigantic clearance sale. I am adding all sorts of items and marking down what already in the shop. I think when it starts tomorrow I will have close to 200 items listed. Yikes! That's a lot of beads.

Jennifer

Wow! It's Monday again?

Gosh I feel like it was just Monday last week. Time has just flown by. I had a sick little guy last week , so I didn't get a whole lot done. My show is next week! I have most of my line all ready to go, I just need all those little last minute things, oh and a catalog. I did a Studio Saturday post a few weeks ago about coming up with a line of jewelry. You can see it here at the Art Bead Scene, if you interested.

If you not...you still need to listen to this. If you were one of my blog readers last year, you would remember that I had a great clearance sale in January. Well, I know it's officially February now but it's still going to be the same clearance sale. I did some cleaning, and I am going to discontinue some things on my site. Also, you will find some one of a kind beads. I am constantly trying out new designs and bead sets. When I just don't get around to finishing the project, it goes in my clearance box. I need room for my new spring things I am working on. Plus I just need a good shop cleaning at Etsy. The survey shows that you want more things on Etsy and I plan to get to it after the sale.

So the sale details are this... starting this Wednesday at noon EST my items will be added to the Etsy shop. Prices are marked...super cheap....I might add. Make sure you go through them all because just for fun I have added some crazy deals, but they are hidden throughout. The sale will run until the evening of February 8th.

I am around if you have questions about the sale....

Happy Monday, Jennifer
