Coloring Marker Tote Bag and Printable Coloring Page

Hey Hey I am back to blogging here. I has taken a short hiatus and just posted news over at my website, but it wasn't the same as blogging here. So I am back and today I've got a free coloring printable for you.

If you are in to coloring like lots of folks seem to be these days, here's a way to store your markers or pencils and take them on the go. 

Originally, I created this design for sewists to take there supplies to class. I have several myself that I use all of the time, most of the time I am carrying my art supplies. You can see the pattern here. It's called the Class-Y Storage pattern.

How to Make an Ornament Hook

Hey, Hey, I have had a lot of ornament tutorials on my blog over the years. (You can see some of them in the list below.) I thought it was a good idea to make up one of my Pinterest tutorials for making an ornament hook. You can print this and hang it in your studio or if you run your mouse over it, or any other image on the blog, a Pinterest "P" will show up to click on.

Stacked Ornaments Project and Making A Simple Wire Loop

Here's the how to for these fun stacked ornaments a.k.a. whimsical icicles. This would be a fun project to make with the kids.

Supplies Needed:

An Assortment of Beads

20 Gauge Craft Wire

18 Gauge Craft Wire

Instructions:

1. Make a spiral at the end of the 20 gauge wire.

2. Start stacking beads from smallest to largest on the wire until you are happy with your ornament.

3. Make a simple wire loop (see below) just above the last bead. Trim any excess wire.

4. Using the 18 gauge craft wire make an ornament hook (see below).

You can pin it or print these tutorials for later reference.

Free Printable Gift Tags

It's time for free printable tags again. I make a new set each year for you to print out and use for your gift wrapping. I'm lazy, or efficient :) and print mine out on label paper then I can just stick them onto the package. These above I used red and white bakers twine for tying up.

Snowman Ornament Project

Ornament Project
Supplies Needed:

• Ceramic Holiday Pendant
• 6 inches of glass holiday colored beads
• 12 inches of silver colored 18 gauge craft wire

Instructions:

1. Begin by stringing the glass beads onto the craft wire. Bend the wire in a circle.
2. Push the beads to one end of the wire, leaving 2 inches of it still showing. Bend the long end of the wire into a 90 degree angle. (This long wire will eventually become the hook.)
3. Take the shorter end of the wire and wrap it around the wire end that is pointing up( the hook wire).
4. You should still have and inch or so of wire remaning after you twist it. Bend this wire down into the center of the circle. Make a loop and hang you pendant off of it. Secure it with a twist around the circle wire.
5. Grab the end of the long wire with your pliers and make a small loop. With the pliers still holding the loop, turn the wire to make a hook shape.

Snowman Goody Jars

 Holiday Treat Jars would be good for putting baked goodies or candy in for gifts. They are really easy to make. I spray painted the lids of canning jars. Once they were dry I hammered a nail through the center of the lid and then pulled the nail out. This left a hole just the size for my 18 gauge craft wire. I made a little spiral at one end, threaded it through the hole and put a dab of hot glue on the wire to hold it in place. While I had the hot glue gun on, I went ahead and put a little glue around the rim on the inside. This will hold the two lid pieces together. Next I added some glitter, strung on the beads and finished off the top with a little spiral or star.

Snowman Ornament Project

What do you call a snowman in the summer?

A puddle :)

Hey Hey, as promised, it's Snowman Week! Let's celebrate winter coming this week. I've got snowman projects all week long for you as well as a snowman sale. Let's get started....

The first project of the week is a snowman ornament.

Supplies:
1 ceramic snowman bead
1 ceramic word link
1 holiday glass bead
1 seed bead
2" headpin
4" of wire 20 gauge
5" wire 18 gauge

Instructions:
1. Start by stringing the seed bead and glass bead onto the headpin. Create a simple wire loop just above the glass bead. Before closing it, slide the bottom loop of the word link onto the loop. Close and trim excess wire.
2. With the 20 gauge wire make a simple wire loop and add the top loop of the word link to it before closing. String the snowman bead onto the wire and create a second simple wire loop at the top of the snowman.
3. Using your 18 gauge wire start by making a small loop on one end. Curl it around to make a spiral that is approximately an inch in diameter.
4. Repeat step 3 for the remaining side of the wire to create the ornament hook. Slide the ornament on and you're finished!

Pom Pom Tree Tutorial

Supplies Needed:

Styrofoam Cone 10-18 inches tall

Fabric - 1/4 yd or a fat quarter

Pom Pom Trim - approximately 3 yards for 18" tall tree

1 Ceramic Star

1 Floral Stick Pin

Needle and Thread oer Sewing Machine

Approximately 6 straight pins

Instructions:

1. Start by cutting your fabric in to 2 inch strips. 

2. Take two strips and place the right sides together of two of the short ends. Sew these together. Continue to sew all of the strips of fabric together until you have approximately a 3 yard strip of fabric. Trim any loose threads.

3. With your machine or needle and thread, sew the pom pom trim down fabric.

4.Start at the bottom of the cone and using a straight pin, secure the end of the fabric into the cone. Start wrapping the cone gradually moving up it.

5. When you reach the top of the cone, trim any excess fabric strip off, leaving approximately and inch to turn over. Turn over the raw edge and pin it to secure.

6. Take the long floral pin and thread the ceramic star on to it. Push the in into the top of the star.

Peppermint Pendants Tutorial

Welcome to Holiday Project Number Two! Here's the how-to......

Supplies Needed:

1 Ceramic Striped Tube Pendant

2-3 Faceted Czech Glass beads measuring 6-10mm in size

Approximately 6 inches fairy ribbon

1 brass eyepin 2 inches

3 brass jump rings 6mm

20inches brass chain

1 brass clasp

Instructions:

1. Slide the Czech beads onto the headpin. Finish the end of the headpin with a loop to match the other side of the eyepin.

2. Connect one end of the eyepin to the ceramic pendant. Connect the remaining side to a 10 inch section of chain.

3. Add the second piece of chain to the opposite side of the pendant using a jump ring.

4. Tie a small bow with the fairy ribbon on the chain just above the jump ring.

5. Add the clasp and jump ring on the chain ends to complete the necklace.

You're finished! Hope you had fun.

Holiday Paper Dolls and a Flickr Group

For no other reason than I am a little bit crazy, I made these little holiday paper dolls. It all started when I was coming up with my Holiday Projects header. These paintings are taken from my It's Christmas! line of fabric, I started changing them a bit to make the theme a little more crafty. I added a sewing machine and some beads. In my head I started calling him crafty elf, once again don't ask, I work alone and I have to entertain myself somehow.

There are instructions on the back on how to assemble the whole village. I have mine on my desk. Starting yesterday, anyone who places an order will get one of these postcards in their package, just for fun. Oh and I guess I should say until supplies run out.

On to other Holiday Project business...

Made with Jennifer Jangles is the our new Flickr Group! I say our because I want everyone to post pictures of anything you made with beads, buttons, fabric, patterns, etc. Show and tell is always so fun, this is the virtual Jennifer Jangles show and tell. I started by adding some of my work so it wouldn't be so empty, but please head over and add your photos, anyone can join the fun.

I want to say it was a wonderful kick off to the projects yesterday. I was surprised at how many of you mentioned that you were inspired to start crafting for the holidays. Woot woot! That's what I am hoping to inspire you to do. The first letter always seems to arrive so early, but really, it's mid October.

Painting Pottery

Hey hey, I am back from the land of writing sewing patterns. They are off to the printers and I am doing a happy dance.

I've been doing a lot of pottery painting lately, getting ready for the holidays and to play with new looks. You know you got to change things up every now and then. Lately with licensing I do loads of painting with acrylics and watercolors but my love for painting started with painting pottery. So when I wanted to come up with something new it was natural to head back to pottery.

Above are some bowls that I painted.

After working on some larger pieces I moved to mugs. I wanted to do something that had words and inspiration. You know I am a happy positive person (in general, ha!) so these mugs needed a bit of that.

Fall Beads and Jewelry

Hey, Hey,

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I don't know about you but it felt like fall here this weekend. I planted some mums, bought a pumpkin and we went on a hike. Those are all good things I like to do in the fall.

I have seen more different colored caterpillars and mushrooms in my yard this year than ever before. I didn't want to make caterpillar beads but I did really want to make mushroom beads. I did and they are in the Etsy shop right now. I also made a few jewelry pieces with my fall beads.
