4 Jangles disc beads
10 glass disc beads
1 blown glass striped lentil bead, Unicorne Beads
11 matte silver charms
6 faceted coral rounds
brown cotton cording
brown leather cording
silver wire
sterling silver hook and eye clasp

I was attempting to make a piece for the Jangles challenge and a different one for the March Art Bead Scene challenge inspired by Matisse's The Goldfish painting. Overnight my beads had a party on the bead boards and started cross-polinating! The result is a riot of color and movement reminiscent of those beautiful red fish in the painting. I prefer to let the beads lead me where they want to go when I am making a piece. I like to play with color, pattern, movement and light when I design, and I believe in upcycling forgotten objects into new found treasures. This necklace contains the leather cord and silver charms from a forgotten necklace. I had a lot of fun making this piece and it has become the inspiration for my gallery exhibit in April. All the pieces will be inspired by Master's works of art.
Thanks for letting me play, Jennifer!

Congratulations Erin! You've won a 100.00 retail gift certificate from Jangles.

  1. Wahoo Erin! I hope you're still here to see you won. This is a great necklace. I love how you used the beads. I am still trying to figure out how it was assembled. Super cool!

  2. Woohoo! I took a little American Idol break and just came back to see refresh your page. I am floored that you chose me! Thank you! Thank you! I have to say that your challenge and the Art Bead Scene was such total inspiration (can't wait to try April' Venus inspriation!) I have been loading my cart up and now I can add some more! You have really blessed me with your inspiration and your fun artistry. Hope to see you in June at B&B in Milwaukee! You are my "something good" today! Enjoy the day!
P.S. I will be happy to spill my "secret" construction to you! It is deceptively easy!

  3. Great first prize...I love the color and the flow of the necklace.

I joined the celebration late, but I've seen the best...this was a lot of fun Jennifer...and yes I'm taking the class. See you in Miami.

  4. Oh good I am glad you came back...Congratulations again.
