Bugapalooza Strike Offs

Look what just arrived in the mail.... Bugapalooza strike offs. Whats a strike off, you ask? Well in the fabric printing world, the mill takes the design files that we (In The Beginning Fabrics and I)  send the mill. The mill does a first round of printing the designs on fabric. They screen print small pieces of the design and these are to make sure the colors are correct.

Think about if the mill just printed thousands and thousands of yards and it was the wrong color, yikes! Strike offs are usually sent once, notes are made about color changes and sent back. Then a second round of strike offs are sent. Usually that's all that needs to be done, every now and then a third round is required.

These strike offs are for my Bugapalooza fabric line that is arriving in stores in April. This is the first round of strike offs and they turned out really great. Every single one needs to be examined for printing flaws and color changes.

Over the next few weeks, I will start planning out what patterns and projects I want to sew with these prints. This gives me a head start so when the yardage arrives I am ready and don't have to think about a thing and I can begin sewing.

In the meantime, I will start sewing some smaller projects with these, because seriously, receiving strike offs is like being a kid on Christmas morning.

I always get questions about this.... how do you get these in your favorite quilt shop? Tell them to contact In The Beginning Fabrics for Bugapalooza or you can e-mail them this blog post.

Tussie Mussie is Coming

 Hello, Hello,

Any day now Tussie Mussie will be arriving to stores. I can't wait! I always get a few sample yards of each fabric before and have been sewing up samples. I am getting closer to having them finished up, I just need buttons. Know where I can get some? Hee hee, seriously, I had to make some for what I needed and they are in the kiln. I have been so busy filling bead and button orders that I just haven't had time to make extra stock.

I want to get my pattern samples made up so I can sew a quilt for myself. I can't settle on a design though. I'll keep thinking while I am sewing my other things.
Here a picture of my sad, sad fabric shelves in the gallery. I hardly have anything left. I promise to let you know as soon as it arrives to my shelves as well.

Thank you for everyone who made my Etsy Clearance sale a success! I cleared a lot, now I am working to clear some things out of my store. I also want to clear out some of my display pieces, I am still figuring out how to go about that one. But I have a entire room full of display trays, busts, shelves, you name it. It's a bit ridiculous, especially if you think about how much is already in my store that's being used. Would you put those kinds of things on Ebay? Anyone have any ideas?

Have a Happy Friday!

Here it is! All 23 fabrics...I have been sewing with them all week and I could not be happier. First of all, In The Beginning Fabrics are always so soft and these are no different. Second, I love all the variety of colors, I have put color combination after color combination together and I am sure it's not even the tip of the ice berg. I have been told the fabric is shipping to stores this week, start checking your local independent quilt shop to see if they have it.

I promised a give a way and here it is. Leave me a comment at the end of this post and you will be entered to win a stack of fat quarters and some matching buttons. I will draw the winners name this Friday. Wahoo!

These are a couple of the photos I shot before cutting into my fabric...

Have a great day,

Buttons and Fabric

Happy Friday! I am super excited for so many things right now. First, my new buttons are up on the site. These are the buttons that match my new fabrics. Second, my fabrics are available for order through In The Beginning Fabrics now. Wahoo! This is only wholesale. For you sewers wanting to get your hands on some, unfortunately, you have to wait until September. That is when Happy will show up in Independent Quilt Shops across the country and the world. But please...oh...please go ask you quilt shop to order now. I will show you more of the collection soon, there are 24 fabrics in all.

I don't want to leave you hanging so remember the logo above? Here is the fabric that is used in it. It will also be available in a really pretty turquoise and a purpley-periwinkle color. I can't stop thinking of all the things I am going to make with it. EEEk!

So have a Happy Friday,
