Little Love Bunny Softie Sewing Pattern

Alrighty, here is the first of what I promise to be many new sewing patterns this year. Right now Little Love Bunny is available as a PDF but he'll be in print down the road....just have to get a few more ready for the printer first so I can send them all off at once.

Little Love Bunny makes a cute little gift for Valentines Day or any day.

For some reason I couldn't sew just one, I made nine. They were super fun to sew, and quick, and I'm probably weird but when I sew I like to sew a lot of things all at once. I must have an inner production worker needing to get out.

He's got lop-sided ears and a off center nose to give him character. I was picturing a child's drawing when I designed him. His eyes are 1/4" buttons but could easily be stitched on with floss for a younger child.

Hope you like him! You can find the PDF pattern in my web shop, on Etsy, or on Craftsy.

Have a great day,
Jennifer

Little Hanging Basket Pattern - It's Free!

This little hanging basket is perfect for storing your cell phone, headphones, keys or other small but very important accessories. Hang it on a doorknob, a hook, or a bedpost to keep those necessities handy.

Supplies needed:
9" x 12" outer fabric
9" x 12" lining fabric
9" x 12" heavyweight fusible interfacing
6" ribbon
2 buttons
Coordinating thread

Click here to get the pattern. Or you can click on this image and print it on a 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper.

Instructions:
1. Start by cutting the pattern piece from the outer, the lining, and the interfacing. Iron the interfacing onto the back of the lining.

2. Pin the ribbon hanger onto the fabric referring to the guides on the pattern piece. You might need a longer ribbon if you plan to go over a doorknob or bedpost, measure to get the exact length you need. For general purpose 6" of ribbon will work just fine.

Place the right sides together of the two fabrics and sew around the outer edge using a 1/4" seam allowance. Leave a gap for turning on one of the longer sides.

I have sewn in red thread so you can see my stitch lines.

3. Clip the corners and turn right sides out. Press and hand stitch the opening closed.

4. Start by shaping the basket so the lining is facing the outside. Overlap the shorter edges, these are what will become the sides, a temporarily secure with a pin. Align the bottom of the sides with the bottom of the basket. Pin and sew. Do this for both sides.

5. Turn the basket right side out. Arrange the side flaps so the the front flaps are pulled more towards the back of the basket. Tack stitch in place and sew a button on for decoration. Repeat for the second side.

 Have a great day,

New Patterns in Print and PDF

Hey, Hey, Happy Tuesday! I am so happy to show you my four new Jennifer Jangles Sewing patterns. They are available in print and in PDF form and they are shipping now.

My goal for this round of sewing patterns was quick and easy. I know I love a sewing project that I can complete in an hour or so and I wanted to provide some of those as well.

The Class-y Storage pattern above is a great way to carry your sewing, quilting, crafting , etc supplies to class. The tote zips up so you can carry it with you. When you arrive at class un zip the bag and roll down the top. You've got a place to hold your tools. You will be the envy of all of your classmates with this one.

Quincy and Maggie have been a PDF for awhile now but they have been so popular I wanted them to be available in print as well.

At the top is a cute little wristlet with one of my signature flowers on it. And the Happy Birthday Cake Pin Cushion... it could be a gift for just about anyone. It's a cake you can keep! I'm going to make one for my niece, she likes to play chef.

The new patterns are in my shop and my Etsy shop. If you're looking for PDF's they are also available over at Craftsy. And if you're a quilt shop you can find them at Checkers Distributors.

Hope you like them!

New Patterns and Free Fabric

Hey Hey, My new patterns have just arrived! They are in the Etsy shop as well as the Jennifer Jangles web store. There are four in total but you might have seen one or two of them before. My pattern up there, is a pattern for quilted bags that you can make in six different sizes. When I designed it I was thinking it would be really cool to make the weekender bag(the largest) and fill it with matching smaller  bags for cosmetics and other travel essentials. Wouldn't that make a great gift for your mom, sister, grand daughter?

My boys are going to get the weekender in a fun kid print for sure. I will be sewing lots of these for holiday gifts....hope my family isn't reading my blog right now. :)

Next pattern up is my Sew Happy Stuffed Sewing Machine. This pattern until now, has only been available in PDF form. It's been so popular that I decided to print it as well so Quilt Stores can carry it as well. The machine measures 12" x 12" and makes a great toy or sewing room decoration. Wouldn't it be fun to put someones name on the machine in that little box?

This is my newest applique pattern. It comes in three sizes so you can make a wall hanging, table runner, or bed runner, in the perfect size. This one on the cover is a brighter version. I have pans to make an all gray, black, and white one for my bed.

And last is my Okey Dokey Owl and Friends Applique Quilt. I know you have probably seen this one but it was sold out and now it is back. I always love it when I get to re print a pattern because of it's popularity.

I know in my post title I said free fabric....that's right. For this week (Oct. 22-29) I will be sending a free fat quarter with any retail paper(not PDF) pattern purchase. That means if you buy four patterns, you will receive four fat quarters! Yikes, I might be cutting a lot f fabric this week. Fat quarters are random, I get to choose and that's to save my sanity. They will be from all of my lines including the two newest It's Christmas! and Not So Spooky Halloween.

And quilt store owners that are reading my post...these babies are available for order from me, you can send me an e-mail and I'll get them out today.

Have a great Day,

Okey Dokey Owl and Friends Applique Quilt Pattern

It's here! Okey Dokey the Owl was a huge success and he had to go to the printers for a second time. Wahoo sold out!  I decided if he was headed there maybe some of his friends should join him as well. So Okey Dokey and Friends was created. This is a super fun quilt to make. I had a ball putting together the fabrics for this quilt. These are all from my Extraordinary World fabric collection.

If you're just getting started in quilting, applique is a great first project. There's a lot of freedom in the way you assemble and sew your blocks, which means there's not a lot of exact measuring. :)

Also on another quilting note... This Monday I will be a guest on Pat Sloan's American Patchwork and Quilting Radio Show. Pat puts on a great show if you've never listened before. I love to listen on my iPod whiles I work. You'll be able to listen after the show is live as well. I'll be sure to get you a link as soon as it's available.

Have a great day,

Dolls Apron Tutorial

I made up this little apron for Rhubarb. Because it ties in the back it will fit just about any doll or stuffy that is around 16-18 inches tall. It's an easy pattern to adjust the size if you need to alter it. Here's the how-to.

 Supplies:

1/4 yard cotton quilting fabric
2 3/4" buttons
coordinating thread

Cutting Instructions:
Cut 1 strip of fabric measuring 3" x 44"
The remaining piece should be 6" x 44" if you're using a quarter yard piece of fabric.

 1. Fold the largest piece of fabric in half and press. On the longest side with the raw edges, sew a gathering stitch. Pull the threads to gather the apron piece so that the gathered side measures  9 inches. Set aside.

2. Take the remaining piece of fabric and fold it in half so the right sides are facing outward. Press this seam.

3. Open this piece up and press each raw edge inward approximately 1/4 of an inch.

4. It should now look like the above image. Next, cut a 12 inch piece off of the folded fabric.

5. Sew down the edge of the 12 inch piece. Cut this piece of fabric in half so that each one measures  6 inches. These are the two straps of the apron.

6. With the remaining strip of folded fabric, tuck in the raw edges at the ends. Pin in place.

 7. Find the center of the apron piece by folding it in half and marking it with a pin. Next, find the center of the long tie by folding it in half and marking it with a pin. Line those pins up and insert the raw gathered edge into the center of the tie. Pin in place.

8. Go back and tuck each strap into the folded fabric and pin into place as well. Notice when pinning, that one side of the strap is lined up with the edge of the apron.

9. Starting at one end of the tie, sew all of the pinned edges.

10. Fold the apron straps upward and tack into place with a needle and thread. Sew on two buttons and you are finished.

Have fun!

P.S. You can see my Otis and Rhubarb sewing pattern here. The fabric used in this pattern is from my Extraordinary World fabric collection from In The Beginning Fabrics.

Let's Connect and don't forget about my free Whimsical Flower Pins Pattern.

New Patterns Peek

I've ben so busy with Quilt Market prep and Holiday newsletters that  haven't had time to tell you about my two new sewing patterns. Yikes! I am so excited about them. I have two new patterns and they are shipping now. First is Pickles the Elephant.

Most elephants are crazy for peanuts but this little guy is crazy for pickles. Pickles stands about 8 inches tall. If you want to make pickles of Pickles you can find a free PDF pattern at my blog.

Next are my Little Ditty bags. A Ditty bag by definition is a bag used mostly by sailors to hold small items such as sewing supplies. Now I couldn't just make a plain ditty bag....This pattern includes all four styles; a cupcake, a toad still, a turtle, and a crab. They stand about 5 inches tall and are great for holding gifts, jewelry, sewing supplies, and more.

I just wish I could hand you these little guys through the computer so you could hold them. If you're coming to market I am in booth 1467, you can hold them there. :)

Have a great day,
