Studio Shots

Hey there! Thought I would snap a few shots around the studio here. I have been making lots of jewelry to send off to a gallery that carries my work. They are gearing up for the holidays so I want to get them stocked up before I get too busy to think straight. I love these earrings, I had so much fun putting them together. I have to admit, I keep taking pairs for myself. The gallery will get some, I hope.

I love seeing my work all lined up in rows. it's so satisfying.

I also snapped a photo of the little lidded boxes the kids made Saturday in class. Aren't these the cutest things ever? I cannot wait to see them glazed. I will be sure to show you them once they come out of the kiln.

Christmas mugs being glazed. You can bet I will be drinking a mocha out of  one of these babies this season. That reminds me, I need to order my peppermint syrup, it's getting to be that time, you know, peppermint mocha season. I always kick off the season when my holiday projects start. That helps get me in the mood.

Speaking of featured, I just got my copy of the 2011 Beads Buyers Guide and I have beads in the guide. It's on news stands now.

Drop Earrings

Hello and Happy Friday!

Just wanted to "drop" in for a quick hello and show you my drop earrings. If you received my newsletter yesterday you saw the new O pendant and wire wrapping tutorial. These are my earrings to match. I have been wearing these a lot since I made them. I am thinking I will need a few more pairs in other colors.

Earrings

Mama's got a new pair of earrings! These are my snazzy new start earrings, just whipped them up today and they will be worn tonight. It's girls night out.

New Earrings

Remember last week when I was unloading my kiln with all my new beads? I said I would make myself something and I did just that. I would have liked to make more but hey at least I got a pair of earrings. These hoops actually started out as an accident. I was making hoops for an order and I went to pick one up and it was still wet, well it squished into an oval. I started to throw it out and then I stopped...I actually liked my mistake. I went on to make a matching oval for a pair. I still liked it a lot so I made some more. I just added them to my Etsy shop. I didn't stick with ovals, I made squares and tear drops too. In the listings I included the felt balls to make earrings if you want them to look like mine.




I have been wearing them ever since I made them and I have gotten so many compliments on them. Hey! I have them on now.

Earrings and Other Stuff

Good Morning,
I made it out yesterday to take my photos, It was beautiful so I had my light tent up and was taking these pictures along with some Etsy photos. I went inside for a minute and out of no where it started puring down rain. It didn't stop for a few hours. My tent and backdrop papers were soaked, along with Otis who was helping with the shoot. He was due for a bath anyway, so I went ahead and shampooed him up while he was wet. But, I did get most things shot before the rain.

Here are the earrings I made with the new links I put up on Etsy yesterday. I think they might have already all sold, so I am making more today and will let you know when I list them again. Have you been noticing the fluorescent colors showing up in fashion again? It takes me back to seventh grade when I had a lot of it. I had a big neon sweatshirt, fishnet socks, a rubber belt, a couple of purses, some jewelry...and best of all my best friend, Tarin, Had the exact same outfit and we would wear it on the same day. That was we could like like twins. Man we were cool. I won't be adding that much fluorescent to my wardrobe this time around but I did want to add a little to my earrings.

Here is the pendant part of the necklace that s in Creative jewelry this month. I promised a photo from yesterdays post also.

Last, these are some rings I made with my disc beads and these cool wooden rings from Fusion Beads. Yes, you are seeing correctly, that is a nail holding those beads onto the ring. I just made sure the top beads was wood to absorb the shock from the hammering. Super easy!

Earring Project Flashback

Here's a snazzy pair of long and dangle-ly Jangle-ly earrings.

I had a project in my email newsletter today for an necklace. I couldn't resist making a pair of matching earrings. I thought I would share the project instructions with you.

Supplies Needed:
1 pair of Seaside Jangles Ceramic Hoops
2 10-12mm wooden discs
4 Montana blue 6mm Crystal bi cones
8 Ecru size 6 seed beads
4 inches 20 gauge sterling silver wire
2 silver 4 inch headpins
2 ear hooks

Tools Needed:
chain nose pliers
wire cutters

Instructions:
Step 1. Start by string a seed bead, a wooden disc, a crystal, and another seed bead onto one of your headpins. Make a simple wire loop just above the beads and slide it onto one end of the ceramic hoop before closing it. Trim the excess wire.

Step 2. Make another small simple wire loop with your silver wire, slide it onto the remaining loop on the ceramic hoop and close.

Step 3. Next, string a seed bead, a crystal, and another seed bead onto the wire. Just above those beads make a simple wire loop. Trim the excess wire. Attach the ear wire to the loop you just made. Congratulations, you have an earring.

Step 4. Because you don't want to walk around lop-sided you'll need to make another earring. Follow steps1-3 to do that.

New Pair of Earrings

Hey all....

These are my new favorite earrings, I just made them yesterday. I guess that's the great thing about making jewelry, I can have a new pair just about every day. These are today's, I got these links at Fusion Beads this summer at Bead and Button. They are super light and fun. I am really bummed I only bought two so I will be ordering more today. Those are my little orange beads hanging from the center. Oh and while you're there, check me out, I made the gift guide.

I am headed off to make beads at the elementary school. We are going to make beads like the Native Americans would have. It should be messy and fun all at once. We are going to make jewelry and use them in the second grade art show. Woohoo, ceramic beads in the art show! Gotta love that.

One more thing before I go...I added some new work to the Etsy shop last night. I have some new cool flower pins, earrings, bezels, and more. I am really trying to add new work everyday for the Holidays. You know they are coming up fast.

Earrings

Instructions for Holiday Earrings

Supplies needed:

• 2 holiday charms
• 2 seed Beads
• 2 sterling silver ear hooks
• 4" of 20 gauge sterling silver wire
• round nose pliers
• chain nose pliers
• wire cutters

1. Begin by making a wire loop on one end of the sterling silver wire. String on one of the seed beads.
2. Right after the seed bead make an second wire loop. Before closing the wire string on one of the ceramic charms. Close the wire loop and trim the excess wire.
3. Open the loop on the ear wire and slide it onto the first wire loop you made. Close the loop.
4. Follow steps 1-3 again to make the second holiday earring.
