Letter Charms and a Sale

Hello!

How is everyone out there in blogland? I hope good. I need to take some studio pictures to show you what I have been up to. Yesterday I painted ornaments all day. It was fun. I think this weekend  I am going to start working on holiday decorations in the gallery. I need to get some holiday music too, is it too early for that? I might need to wait a few weeks for it.

This weeks holiday project is personalized bookmarks. I made these snazzy new letter charms for personalizing gifts and your own things. I made this necklace with a J charm on it. I also made a zipper pull. My boys are going to have these on there back packs soon.

I guess I am just going to go ahead and give away all the secrets of this weeks newsletter in this blog post. Leave me a comment here and you will be entered to win a bookmark supplies kit to make your own.

Also, I am having a big ol sale in the Etsy shop all week. Ten percent off starting right now and running until Wednesday Nov 2nd. Enter the code news4 in the coupon box before checkout. I won't be adding anything else to the shop this week so shop early and get what you want.

Have a great day!
Jennifer

New Necklace

Hello,

Here's my super simple but snazzy necklace, I just whipped up. I am so in love with gunmetal chain, can I tell you? First of all it doesn't cost a lot and second, it's almost black. If you know me at all you know I like to throw a little black in everything I do. I have a big spool on my desk and use it all of the time. Love it!

Anyway...only got four of these that survived the kiln. I learned a very important lesson about the way I loaded them in the kiln, next time I will turn the wire loops so they don't all stick! Ah... live and learn.
Everybody have a good Friday!

Knotted Necklace Tutorial

Here's a quick little project that doesn't take a lot of supplies, tools, or time. Here's what you need: 4 yards of waxed cotton, hemp, or twine, assortment of glass and wood beads, a toggle clasp, and a pendant.
1. Start by cutting four equal strands of cording. Remember all of the knots will shrink the length of the cords so make them long. String them through the hole of the pendant and tie a knot.

2. Start tying small beads onto the cords.

3. After knotting beads onto all of the cords tie a knot with all four cords.

4. It should look like this so far. You will continue to knot the cording with beads until you reach the length of necklace you would like.

5. Slide the four strands through one side of the toggle and tie in a knot. Approximately an inch further down the cording tie the loose cording to the strand. Cut the loose ends. Repeat on the 2nd side of the necklace.

Vintaj Necklace

Hello, Hello,

Look at this beautiful necklace! The gals over at Vintaj created it. Don't you just love my flower with their birds? And the little round bead inside the flower petals in the drop? So cute... If you want to read more about this one you can hop over to the Vintaj blog and read it here.

Betsy designed another necklace with Jennifer Jangles beads here. It's called Mama looks pretty, you'll have to go to their blog to see it.

Have a great day!

Something to Drool On

Don't you just love this necklace? The nice folks at Lima Beads just sent me the picture. They just started carrying my beads along with C-Koop and Humble Beads. This necklace will be in their BeadStyle ad this month. I am drooling over it and I think I am going to have to make my own. I love all of the different elements going on and there's a locket! That way you can carry around a picture of your sweetie or your pet. How fun. I will also let you in on a little secret, you can get 20% off any locket you buy if you enter LOCK20 in the coupon box.

Ceramic Sun Necklace

Elizabeth Del Monte

Morning... I just pulled this necklace from the Jangles Jewelry Flickr Group. I love seeing what you all have added to the group, it's fun. This ceramic sun necklace was made by Elizabeth Del Monte. You can see more of her work in her Etsy shop when you click on her name above. I spotted a few more pieces with my beads in them that I didn't see in the Jewelry Group.

I am busy glazing today, I have a huge bisque kiln fire full of beads and pendants for the Bead and Button show. I am excited to get to work on them so I am going to make this a short little post so I can get out there and get started. Ah, I love my job.

Have a great day,

Number 12

Check this out! I can't believe it...seriously this is still sinking in. I would never have imagined that I would be ranked number 12 on Wikio's top 20 jewelry making blogs. They are posting the new category today but they asked Margot Potter to break the news so it's on her website right now. I know I have some folks out there reading my blog.....but wow.... number 12. I owe all my reader's out there a big thanks.

And since we are talking jewelry making today, I thought I would post these photos of a necklace I made using my flower links. I linked them together with jump rings and added some beads and chain. It's a fun one to wear.
I also have a new coupon accepting thing (module is the official term) on my website. I want to try it out. Starting today I am offering free shipping on all website orders. When you checking out just type FREESHIP into the coupon box. This offer runs through May 8th, which is Saturday.
Have a great day,

Happy Monday

Happy Monday! Hope you all a warm and wonderful weekend. We enjoyed a cook out on the back porch, it was so nice. Yesterday it rained, so I spent the day inside painting. I painted the studio and both of the boys bedrooms. Whew! I am exhausted and sore. But I am so much closer to being back to work in the studio. The final work is being done today and then it will just be up to me to paint the floor. I will show pictures soon. It's going to take me awhile to get it all back together.

Above is a cute necklace I made with my new disco links. I am lovin' it and it was so simple.

Have a great day,

A New Necklace

Hey, Hey,

I promised a necklace with my new flower vines and here it is. I have designed all sorts of jewelry with my new beads. I am loving them. This is one of my more simple necklaces. I connected gun metal chain to each side of the link and a little Czech crystal at the bottom and voila a new necklace. I am loving this one and wearing it a lot.

Here's the whole view. Come back tomorrow and I will show you another necklace with my new Woodland Beads. Tomorrow I am going to have a give away too. Wahoo! Give-Away-Friday!

Rain and Pendants

Hey Hey,

It keeps raining here... it's been raining for a week now and is supposed to continue until mid-week. It's quite crazy. I think we have gotten at least seven inches. Anyway, we were all stuck inside this weekend, so I did quite a bit of crafting. I made some pendants for Holiday sales and worked on a quilt. The pendants are above.

I got an e-mail from a customer who made a super cool bag and used one of my pendants as a closure. It's knitted and felted and if that's your "thing", you should check it out here. I love the bumps on the bag. I wish I could knit....ah...maybe someday.

Alrighty, it's Monday and that means a big to-do list is about to be made....I will have more to blog about tomorrow.

Have a great day,

Simply Beads Projects

(© Simply Beads 2008, used by permission)

Hello everyone in blog land...... hope you're having a good day. I wanted to mention that I have two, great for spring and summer, projects in the April issue of Simply Beads. You should check them out. The first is a charm bracelet made with a sterling silver charm bracelet and my ceramic discs. It makes noise when you wear it. You could say it Jangles. Ha! Ha!

My second project in the issue is called the swag necklace. I guess that name came from when I was a floral designer, long ago. Swags are the things that are like wreathes you hang over the door. This necklace kind of has an upside down swag made with seed beads. I used my bead cones, original beads, and bead mixes to finish off the necklace.

Both necklaces are in the magazine with full instructions. If you haven't picked up an issue of Simply Beads lately, you should. It's got some really great projects.

Cheers,
Jennifer
