Want to work with Jennifer Jangles?

Hey, Hey, so this is exciting to me.... and hopefully to you as well. :)  I'm on the hunt for some helpers.

Would you like to work with me on all sorts of happy projects?

Here's what I am looking for....

I am looking for sorts of sewers and crafters of all experience levels who are interested in helping me test and showcase my products. This could include sewing with my new fabric lines before they are released, testing my sewing or other craft patterns and kits, guest blogging with projects, and more.

Are you interested? Fill this survey out and I will be in touch in a few weeks, once the survey closes.

Can't wait! This is going to be fun,

Bugapalooza Strike Offs

Look what just arrived in the mail.... Bugapalooza strike offs. Whats a strike off, you ask? Well in the fabric printing world, the mill takes the design files that we (In The Beginning Fabrics and I)  send the mill. The mill does a first round of printing the designs on fabric. They screen print small pieces of the design and these are to make sure the colors are correct.

Think about if the mill just printed thousands and thousands of yards and it was the wrong color, yikes! Strike offs are usually sent once, notes are made about color changes and sent back. Then a second round of strike offs are sent. Usually that's all that needs to be done, every now and then a third round is required.

These strike offs are for my Bugapalooza fabric line that is arriving in stores in April. This is the first round of strike offs and they turned out really great. Every single one needs to be examined for printing flaws and color changes.

Over the next few weeks, I will start planning out what patterns and projects I want to sew with these prints. This gives me a head start so when the yardage arrives I am ready and don't have to think about a thing and I can begin sewing.

In the meantime, I will start sewing some smaller projects with these, because seriously, receiving strike offs is like being a kid on Christmas morning.

I always get questions about this.... how do you get these in your favorite quilt shop? Tell them to contact In The Beginning Fabrics for Bugapalooza or you can e-mail them this blog post.

 Have a great day,

Fall Quilt Market 2014 Sneak Peek #1 Bugapalooza and Jolly Holiday in the City

Hello Hello, Quilt Market is starting on Saturday! I am scurrying around the studio trying to get things finished up and ready for market. Yes, I will most likely be sewing on the airplane, I still have that much to do. I am super excited about some new things I will be debuting at market and so I thought I would give you a little glimpse at new things to come.

First up....New Fabric! I will have two new lines of fabric debuting at market. If you're a quilt shop or you want a quilt shop to get this fabric, now is the time to call up In The Beginning Fabrics and get your order in. If you are a sewer or quilter who is going to want some of this fabric, now is the time to ask your favorite quilt shop to order it.

Bugapalooza will be in stores and ready to be sewn with in April. I've always been a big fan of bugs and for a long time were the main focus of my tiles and other art. So designing a line of fabrics with bugs and flowers was so much fun. There are several color ways and 28 fabrics in all. Here are a few...it's a sneak peek remember?

The second line at market is Jolly Holiday in the City. It will be hitting stores in June. I have brought back my snowmen from Jolly Holiday, my first round of holiday fabric. This time the jolly little snowmen and snow women are ice skating and having fun in the city. There are 25 fabrics in this line.

It's back to Quilt Market prep for me!

Sneak Peek - A Walk In The Woods

Hello, I don't always give sneak peeks at upcoming fabric lines but I just can't wait on this one any longer. This one is close enough to landing in stores that I am going to go ahead and give you a little taste of it that will be in your favorite quilt shop in July.

It's called A Walk in The Woods as you can tell from the images it's got a fall theme. My favorite thing about this line....I have written a project book to go along with it. It's got the wall quilt shown above as well as placemats, a table runner, stuffed pumpkins and more. You'll have to wait until it comes out to see the rest, but I couldn't be more excited.

If your favorite quilt shop doesn't carry my fabric or if you are a quilt shop that wants to carry my fabric, In The Beginning Fabrics is who you'll want to contact. There wholesale information is here or you can print this page out and take it in to your shop.

And speaking of fabric, I did just list some of my basics line Hoopla and Everyday Fun in the shop yesterday. You can look for the entire collection in your favorite quilt shop but you can find a smithering of it here in the Etsy shop and on my website.

Have a great day,

Joy Wall Quilt

It's week number six of my holiday projects and this weeks project is a wall quilt. I actually I think I will hang mine on a door, but you could use it on a table as well. Theres a PDF to download with all of the full size appliqués for the quilt.

Here are the basics:
Background and backing 1 yard
For Joy and Berries 1/3 yard red
Holly Leaves 1/8 yard of two greens
Binding 3/8 yard

This quilt is made in my It's Christmas! fabric available in stores now. I carry my Jolly Holiday fabric from last year in my Etsy shop and there's black, red, and green there as well.

To assemble, cut the background of the quilt to 15" x 36". Using Heat n Bond Lite or another fusible webbing fuse all of the pieces onto the quilt top, using the above picture for reference.  I went around the edges with a blanket stitch to secure them, but you could use any stitch you would like. Quilt and binding is all that is left.

I hope you enjoy this weeks project!

Patchwork Zipper Wristlet Tutorial

Hi there,

I am super excited to share my Patchwork Zipper Wristlet tutorial with you. This project was featured over at the Sewing Loft Blog last month, if it looks familiar.

My tiny scrap stash is always full and if you're like me, you're always on the look out for ways to use those tiny things up. To make my wristlet here's what you'll need:

Assorted fabric scraps measuring at least 1.5" x 1.5"
10" or longer zipper
1/4 yard or fat quarter of lining fabric
coordinating thread
rotary cutter, ruler, and mat
sewing machine

Start by cutting approximately 100 squares of your scraps that measure 1.5" x 1.5"

When I need to cut a bunch of fabric that needs to be all of the same size. I mark my ruler or my cutting mat with Washi Tape. As you can see in the picture, it's super easy to see the line where I need to place my fabric for my 1.5" mark.

Here are all 100 of my squares.

To make the front and back pieces of the wristlet, you need two patchwork pieces that are 5.5" x 9.5". It's basically like making two tiny quilt tops where the finished squares are 1" x 1". I like to arrange my squares first, but you could totally wing it and see what fabrics end up next to each other.

Start by sewing two pieces together with right sides facing. Make 72 sets of these. Cut them apart, press open, and sew two sets of two together. Next, sew a single square to the strip of four blocks. At this point you should have 18 fabric strips, each containing five fabric squares.
Sew nine strips together to make a rectangle that is five squares by nine squares. Repeat this for the second panel of patchwork.

Cut two 5.5" x 9.5" rectangles from the lining fabric. Cut two 12" x 2.5" strips for the handle.

With right sides together stitch down the two long sides of the handle pieces. Turn right side out and press flat. Top stitch down each side. I twisted my handle on one side so the the lining and the outer fabric met up. Pin the raw edges together and set aside.

Now instead of repeating a zipper pouch tutorial, you can go here to my Easy Zipper Pouch instructions and follow along to assemble your wristlet. There are photos for every step of the way.

And for the flower pin on the wristlet. Use some more of your scraps to make these, using my free PDF pattern here.

Have a great day!

Shh....don't tell anyone

Hello, hello,

I feel like I haven't talked to you forever. It's true but I have been working very hard lately. It's that time of year where I am in full swing preparing for the holidays, designing new fabric and patterns, and coming up with new products. It kills me to not snap photos during the day when I am busy in the studio. so if you folllow me on facebbok, the blog, instagram, twitter, pinterest....you get the idea, I just haven't been there lately. Well I can't take much more of this so I am breaking my no photo policy and showing you a few things, it's just between us okay?

Been working on a new sewing pattern. I've gotten a hold of my strike offs for Everyday Fun and Hoopla. It ships to stores in November. Strike offs are the color proofs in the fabric world. They are usually pretty small samples so I have to be very strategic when sewing.

As you saw in the first photo, tons and tons of holidays beads and projects are being designed right now. Can you believe that the holiday projects are less then a month away? As I've been preparing holiday things, I've also been working on new gift ideas as well. I have been painting lots of pottery in new styles and I cannot wait to show you more.

I hope you're doing well, well chat more soon,

Fabric and Free Patterns

Hello! Some fabric has made it's way into the Jennifer Jangles Etsy Shop. I was able to get the last bits of Polka Dot Garden and Tussie Mussie from In The Beginning. These have been out f print for over a year now and they are getting hard to come by.

Usually, I don't like to sell my fabric in my shop. I never want to compete with other quilt shops and stores that carry my fabric. But, folks are always asking me to sell it. These bits and ends are my solution. Now I have to admit, there's was a moment when I wanted to keep them all for myself. Truthfully, I have my eye on several fabrics I might not be able to part with for FOREVER. Any who, they are in the Etsy shop, everything I have is listed and there is no way to get more of these fabrics ever again. Yikes!

In the headline I mentioned free patterns. That's right, anyone who make a fabric purchase this month(June 2103) will receive a free Jennifer Jangles Sewing Pattern. You have your choice of four different patterns. And here they are....

You can enter the pattern you would like in the comment box of the order. If there isn't a comment, then I am happy to choose a pattern for you.

Have a great day,
