May Wrap Up, Important Dates, and a SALE

May is over and I am doing my best to do a monthly wrap up of the best blog posts so if you missed anything, you might catch it here. Also, I'm having a sale this week and I'm taking a work-cation from the shops so make sure you get to the bottom of this post for the those dates and more importantly, the coupon code.

Here are the highlights from May....

I didn't travel but was well represented at Surtex in New York City and at Quilt Market in Portland this month. Both shows happened to be on the same weekend this year...busy...busy.

There were several new tutorials added to the blog in May, they were....

I also updated you on my latest crochet project.

There was more and you can always go through the archives and see them all, but for now these are the highlights of May.

Now on to dates. I am taking a work-cation. That means I will be working for the next few weeks but I won't be shipping anything from the shops, I will be slow returning e-mails, etc. I'll still be doing some posting, instgraming, face booking, you know, I can't stay completely away. But the shops Etsy and Jenniferjangles.com will be closed June 7th until the 24th. If you place an order in that time, I will ship it on June 25th.

In the meantime...if you've had you eye on something and you want to grab it up before then, here's a coupon to entice you.... 25% off everything in the Etsy shop. 25Sale is the code to use at checkout. I just went in an marked down  some of the items and the 25% off can be used for additional savings. I would love it if I could have my shop emptied before Thursday. So I appreciate any of you who help me to to that. :)

Well here's to June! Hope it's a good one for you,

My Crochet Afghan Progress

It's been awhile since I've updated you on my crochet progress. This is what I do in my free time these days, usually in  the evening on the couch or on the porch. It's an afghan that is from this pattern. So far I am sticking with the pattern, even though there are several times I wanted to go off roading, or um, do my own thing.

26 large granny squares are finished, there are 24 more smaller squares to make. They have been started.

Once the squares are all finished then some long stripes are crocheted and then they are all stitched together. I'm waiting until the squares are all finished but I am already thinking it needs to be bigger. When it gets to that point, I promise to snap some more pictures.

One more thing before I sign out... I picked a winner for the Owl giveaway. Congrats Raina! I have e-mailed her and she is super excited about a flock of owls heading her way. Thanks to everyone who entered.

Have a great day,

Crochet and Beaded Flowers

Thought I would show you what I have been playing around with lately. Flowers are always a theme running through my work so when I started crocheting it was one of the first things I attempted. Then, of course, my mind started running in a million different places about what could be done with crochet flowers.

If I only had more time....

Have a great day,

My Granny Square Crochet Throw

I finally finished my Granny Square Crochet Throw that I feel like I have been working on forever. If you follow me on Facebook, I've been posting lots of pictures on there through my Instagram. I fell in love with this super cheap value yarn at Michael's. Seriously 2.50 a skein.

The reason I fell in love with it? It had everyone of my favorite colors in it.

Lime Green
Turquoise
Orange
Hot Pink

I could not pass it up. Actually I went back and bought three more skeins just to keep on hand.

I am completely new to crochet and am loving it. I decided to make a lap throw/wrap for my studio. It's a little chilly in the mornings. Plus, it just makes my chair look pretty when I'm not using it. You can never have too much color.

I crocheted a rectangle out of the variegated yarn, then did a border of granny squares. It was lots of fun. Now I would love to make an entire blanket from granny squares, I can't imagine how long that would take.

Have a great day,

Crochet!

Hi there, I think I mentioned in another post about my new found love of crocheting, sigh...

It's something I have always have wanted to learn how to crochet but timing was never right for classes, too many other things were going on, etc. One day at Michaels I found myself in the yarn aisle and thought I would just buy a hook and a skein of yarn. I took it home and started looking online for simple tutorials. I crocheted and ripped it out and then crocheted and ripped it out. It turns out I bought way too fuzzy of yarn and the wrong size hook to start out. But I am proud to say that after about three weeks of non stop crocheting every night, I have the hang of it.

I have made banners, pillows, flowers, little dogs, granny squares, you name it. I have also collected every hook and a huge basket of brightly colored yarn.

This is my latest project, a granny square pillow. More on that and pillows later.

Have a great day,
