Snowman Week Wrap Up

Snowman week is winding down here at the Blog. I thought I would do a wrap up of this weeks projects. The Snowman Sale continues thru Sunday as well. 

Monday was a snowman ornament.

Tuesday was a snowman mug rug.

Wednesday was a snowman pin cushion.

Thursday was snowman treat jars.

Friday was another snowman ornament.

Snowman Goody Jars

 Holiday Treat Jars would be good for putting baked goodies or candy in for gifts. They are really easy to make. I spray painted the lids of canning jars. Once they were dry I hammered a nail through the center of the lid and then pulled the nail out. This left a hole just the size for my 18 gauge craft wire. I made a little spiral at one end, threaded it through the hole and put a dab of hot glue on the wire to hold it in place. While I had the hot glue gun on, I went ahead and put a little glue around the rim on the inside. This will hold the two lid pieces together. Next I added some glitter, strung on the beads and finished off the top with a little spiral or star.

Snowman Pin Cushion

Welcome to day three of Snowman Week. Today is a pin cushion I put together using my Ice Cream Sundae Pin Cushion Pattern. It's free and can be found here at my blog. I sewed it up leaving the last two tiers off. I sewed the ceramic pin topper to the top layer before sewing it to the base. It would make a great gift for someone who sews. 

Fun and easy! So let's recap this week so far, yesterday was the snowman mug rug, and Monday was a Snowman Ornament. Tomorrow is a jewelry project so come on back for more fun.

Snowman Mug Rug Pattern

We're still continuing snowman week here at the Jennifer Jangles Blog. I had a lot of fun making this Snowman Mug Rug. You can find the full size printable Snowman Mug Rug Applique Pattern here.

It's all applique and to make it a quick project, I ironed on all of the appliques with Heat n Bond and then used a piece of fusible fleece as my batting. I did raw edge applique with my quilt sandwich made so it was being quilted at the same time. I did some more loop dee loops(technical term) on the black background and I was finished quilting. I sewed the binding on last night while hanging with the family. Easy Pea-sy. These little projects make me want to make more, they are so fun and satisfying.

Because I know someone will want to know, the background fabrics and the binding are from my It's Christmas! line of fabric. You can find it in quilt shops now.

Snowman Ornament Project

What do you call a snowman in the summer?

A puddle :)

Hey Hey, as promised, it's Snowman Week! Let's celebrate winter coming this week. I've got snowman projects all week long for you as well as a snowman sale. Let's get started....

The first project of the week is a snowman ornament.

Supplies:
1 ceramic snowman bead
1 ceramic word link
1 holiday glass bead
1 seed bead
2" headpin
4" of wire 20 gauge
5" wire 18 gauge

Instructions:
1. Start by stringing the seed bead and glass bead onto the headpin. Create a simple wire loop just above the glass bead. Before closing it, slide the bottom loop of the word link onto the loop. Close and trim excess wire.
2. With the 20 gauge wire make a simple wire loop and add the top loop of the word link to it before closing. String the snowman bead onto the wire and create a second simple wire loop at the top of the snowman.
3. Using your 18 gauge wire start by making a small loop on one end. Curl it around to make a spiral that is approximately an inch in diameter.
4. Repeat step 3 for the remaining side of the wire to create the ornament hook. Slide the ornament on and you're finished!

Snowman Week is Coming

It's November! I have no idea where October went but it blew by this year. Were in November, it's the first and to kick it off I took the boys to school this morning and headed straight to Starbucks to get my first peppermint mocha of the season. It's so good, I have self imposed peppermint mocha drinking rules, and one is that it has to be November before I start drinking them, second, I CANNOT go to Starbucks everyday and get one as much as I would like too. I make them at home on those days. :) And by January 1st, I am so sick of peppermint mochas I never want to drink one again. 

I don't know I am feeling like I could almost get out some Christmas lights and string them up today, I'm feeling so festive. It's getting cold here, it's sweater weather, and it's dark more. Maybe this weekend, after I spend some time cleaning up my studio, I'll hang some lights.

Okay, but enough about my holiday excitement, well, this still is about my holiday excitement but now it's more about beads and sewing. I am declaring next week Snowman Week. Won't you join me? Snowmen are just so dang cute and fun that I feel like we should dedicate an entire week to them.  I will be featuring a new snowman project everyday here at the blog, all week long. I'm going to have a snowman sale as well(more details on Monday). It should be good fun. And yes, I will be drinking peppermint mochas everyday as well. You'll probably catch shots of them on Instagram or Facebook. :)
