Joining an Artist Co-op

Last week it was the tophatter auction, this week, it's a artist co-op gallery. Sometimes I do wonder if it's possible for me to say no. This has been said before on the blog and it probably won't be the last time, when it comes to business opportunities I am always willing to try something new.

Here's the story, a few weeks ago a woman from Roswell Georgia e-mailed me about an artist co-op that she was opening in May, was I interested. Roswell is a suburb of Atlanta, it's super cute, has an old covered bridge an abandoned cotton mill, and a gluten free bakery(for Fletch)!

My thoughts were:
1. I miss having a store because I love to make jewelry and display items.
2. I don't like having store hours, this way I didn't have too.
3. On my wish list, to find some local places to sell my work, this would fit the bill.
4. It was a really good reason to get to Atlanta once a month, I am very lazy about making it there.
5. My gut was telling me, if I waited, there wasn't going to be available space when it was convenient.
6. The only Dick Blick Art Supply is in Roswell and I have a bad habit of buying pencils and paints.

Good reasons right?

The boys and I drove up there last weekend to look at the space. We got there and it was packed with folks who wanted to sign up. The hitch that made me almost not sign up.... she needs the work by Saturday, this Saturday! Uh, hello, can you say Quilt Market and Surtex?

That's when my you can't say no reflex kicked in, I signed the papers. I have a little round table right up front. I'll take pictures when I go set up, and actually it won't be until Monday or Tuesday, I talked her into a few extra days, whew!

I already needed to make jewelry for Pewabic Pottery that carries my work, and I needed beads and jewelry for the Etsy shop so I just added some more. This shop is a children's boutique but will have women's gifts and accessories as well. I made some teen tiny little beads for some children's jewelry. It's weird I have never made children's jewelry, it seems like something I should have done a long time ago. I am pretty excited to try it. This is why I am always willing to try something new, you never know what will come out of it.

I'll keep you posted on my progress, it kind of reminds me of the time time I got ready for the artfair in Atlanta a few years ago, if you want to peek, the posts are below in order.

Good News, Bad News

Monday!, ugh...ugh, fighting a sinus infection here and not feeling so great. I also have some news that is probably going to disappoint some folks. Might as well deliver it as I am already feeling crummy.

I am closing the gallery. Over the past year I have found that I am not needing that much space.  Katie, my employee, had an adorable baby Juniper, so she has been with me as much, and to tell the truth, I am not a big fan of fixed hours. I guess since I've been self employed for 15 years I am used to doing things when I want to do them. I have always loved working from home, I get to see my boys more and I don't mind wearing jammie pants all day.

However, I am going to miss all of the great people who have come in to the gallery. This was definitely the hardest part of making the decision. I have already promised lunches and get togethers with some. If I haven't seen you lately and you're just getting this news, please keep in touch. I don't want to say goodbye.

For those of you folks who aren't local....nothing else is changing. I will still be making beads and buttons, designing fabric and more. You'll just be seeing different studio shots.  If you read last weeks post about the new floor that's the start of a very big studio move.

I'm cleaning out as I go, I have piles for donating, for a garage sale, for Habitat, and for a de-stash sale. My piles are getting big, my home studio hasn't been organized in quite awhile. It's taking major reorganization to get it all back in one, well, two spaces.

More studio progress and pictures tomorrow...

Happy Holidays

Morning y'all!

Long time no post...it's that time of year where I am busy, busy trying to wrap things up with the holiday projects, do my own Christmas shopping, and run the gallery. It all caught up with me this weekend and I have a cold. Spent Sunday in bed and I feel like I'm on the mend but my voice is still a mess. I can either whisper or yell, there is now in between voice. Ugh...

I'm not sure what happened but I have been meaning to post for awhile final shipping dates etc. There is only one week left for shipping AAAAh! The boys get out of school on the 20th this year and because I feel like I have been working way too much, I will be closing on the 20th at noon at the gallery and that will also be the last day for shipping any packages. I'll do a fancy little re-cap at the bottom of this post.

I have started marking Christmas beads and gifts down in the Etsy shop as well. Get them while they last...I won't be making more.

Okay here's the fancy re-cap...

Last day for shipping orders Dec 20th
Jennifer Jangles Gallery Closing Dec 20th at noon
Jangles online and gallery will be closed until Jan 3rd
Gallery will re-open on Jan 4th
Orders placed Dec 20th-Jan 3rd will ship on Jan 4th

Happy Holidays!
Jennifer

What's going On

  Hello, Hello,

Man, I have been meaning to blog all week but the batteries were dead in my camera. I could never do a post without a picture. It took me until today to remember to charge them. But now they are good to go. I quickly snapped a few shots around the studio for this post. I'm going to take more pictures later today and then I will be good to go for blogging again.

So what's up? Happy Friday...wahoo. I have been working every Saturday at the gallery for the past month but this Saturday Katie will be working. I am really happy to have the day off.  Even though, I will still be dropping my boys off because they have clay class there. Here's a picture of some of their pots.....

Aren't they the cutest things ever? Lisa, the kids clay teacher, has the greatest projects planned out for them. They also made the cutest turkeys, they aren't glazed yet so I'll show you them later.

And the stars in the above pictures...they were for a customer. I always have some painted and ready to go in the gallery. But Tiffany wanted a whole row of stars for her kitchen above her windows and doors. We lined them up to see how it would look. I am ordering more stars to paint today, it looks so dang cute, I am going to need some in my house as well. Love them!

Holiday projects start next week! Yikes, Katie and I are scurrying around to get things ready. I have so many things to add to the website and Etsy shop. I am working on finishing up some projects as well. I am doing my best to be organized, you know carry my summer of organization in fall. I just know that probably in about a month it will all fall apart when the holiday rush becomes reality. I'm doing my best to stay calm until then.

I noticed over at Etsy they are having their holiday boot camp. If you're a seller of any kind needing to get ready for the holidays they have some great suggestions. Because I am crazy, I do most of the planning in July and August when things are slow.

Happy Friday and see you soon!

New Etsy Items

Good morning!

Finally, finally...new work in the Etsy shop. wahoo!

So we made it through the first day of school. Everyone was a little tired and grumpy last night.
But the boys were up early this morning and excited about going to school again, whew! Fletcher even set his own alarm fifteen minutes earlier than usual so he could get up and shower before us. It was great, but really, is that going to ever happen again? Probably not, I will enjoy it while I can.

I made all kinds of things yesterday in the studio. Believe it or not, I was working on Christmas! Yikes, those ten holiday projects start sooner than you can imagine so I am getting my plan together early this year. I am also working on having all of my web store items in stock and ready to ship. I am getting really close to having it all. I have only managed to do this twice in all of my years in business. I'm telling you this organization thing rocks.

Come back tomorrow and I'm going to have a sneak peek of the store, I am really happy with how it's coming together.

Have a great day,
Jennifer

Store Update

Good morning y'all...

Just wanted to give you a bit of a store update. I am knee deep in getting it ready. I have projects all over my home and studio. I don't know which way I am going there are so many things to do. Is it scary that my lists are now being written in a 11" x 14" notebook because it's the only thing big enough for it all?

I am bringing my camera to the studio tomorrow and I will shoot some pictures. Right now, here is a picture of some of the Little Dishes that I just pulled out of the kiln. They range from 4-5 inches in diameter.

Besides working on the store, I am working on some new stuff for the Etsy shop, hope to have it updated in a few days. I will let you know when I do.

Have a great day,
Jennifer
