New Licensing Images for My Portfolio

Hey, Hey, Happy Spring! It's getting warm here in Georgia and so I've been dreaming of planting my garden. I can't wait to have flowers in my yard again.

Thought I would pop in and show you what's been going on behind the scenes here. It's become the time of year where I am working on my licensing portfolio, freshening it up with new work. The image above is appliqué and free motion quilting, I have a whole series of these I am working on with fun phrases. I had to buy a super small and very sharp pair of scissors to cut out all of those tiny appliqués.

I've been painting as well. Birds, flowers, little animals and more. Of course "springy" things...

I hope you're hanging in there waiting on spring yourself, it's been a rough winter for a lot of folks. Soon enough, soon enough...

Have a great day,

Painting Pottery

Hey hey, I am back from the land of writing sewing patterns. They are off to the printers and I am doing a happy dance.

I've been doing a lot of pottery painting lately, getting ready for the holidays and to play with new looks. You know you got to change things up every now and then. Lately with licensing I do loads of painting with acrylics and watercolors but my love for painting started with painting pottery. So when I wanted to come up with something new it was natural to head back to pottery.

Above are some bowls that I painted.

After working on some larger pieces I moved to mugs. I wanted to do something that had words and inspiration. You know I am a happy positive person (in general, ha!) so these mugs needed a bit of that.

Here are a few...

Here's a stack of them, that I snapped a photo of....

I just added the mugs to the Etsy Shop. The rest of the dishes I still need to photograph, etc. I've got an idea brewing that they might work well for.....

Hope you're doing well,

Surtex 2013

Hey, Hey,

If this weekend being Quilt Market wasn't enough, it is also Surtex. Woot woot, it's a busy weekend. This is my first Surtex and it's super exciting, even though it is my agent will be attending. Since January I have been working behind the scenes getting my portfolio ready for the show and my new website. In the past, I have designed loads of repeating patterns but companies also want main images as well. That's where my portfolio needed some work so I have been painting some every week to have a good selection of images. My new site is www.jenniferheynen.com and it serves as my online portfolio if you want to take a peek.

If you're going to Surtex, Montage Licensing is in booth 465 and if you're not but you want to keep up on all the latest from Kimberly and the gang, then the Montage Facebook Page is great for that.

Have a great day,

Surtex 2013

Surtex is the big show when it comes to licensing your work. I have debated for years about having a booth. It's a ton of money but great exposure to lots of companies. Now that Kimberly Montgomery and I are working together, my work will be at the show. The dates are May 19-21 and we're in booth 465.

Above is the postcard we're mailing to some prospective companies and in the next month, I'm going to be working very hard to get my portfolio stocked up with art. I'll do my best to post some paintings as they are finished.

Have a great day,

Please Meet My Art Licensing Agent

In January I signed with a licensing agent. A what? Well you know how I license my designs to In The Beginning Fabrics and they put them on quilting fabric? Well, I would like to do more licensing, but as usual, there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done that I would like to do. Kimberly of Montage Licensing is going to be helping me with my plans.

At the top is a sell sheet, (just learned about those), I've been spending the last few weeks going through all of my designs and creating these. It's fun to revisit some of these designs. Plus, I've been painting more. Here's an Fall Owl Painting I recently did.

Montage Licensing also has a Facebook page where Kimberly updates it with all the new work she receives from her group of artists.

Have a great day,

Painting Snippet

Hello!

I feel like I've been in hiding lately. Holiday projects ended last week. They are so much fun to plan and send out but every year when they are over I need an Internet break. So if you haven't seen me much on the blog, on facebook, or on twitter it's my break time. I'll be back soon, I promise.

I have been working though...I have been painting all week. It's been so much fun, up there's a little snippet of a design I'm working on. It's a series of three little girls and I am still tweaking so I am not ready to show the whole shebang yet. Hoping to get them finished up soon.

Erin over at the Art Bead Scene made up a super cute ornament with my ceramic star beads. She's got the how-to here.

Alrighty...hope today's a good day for you,
