Embroidered Poinsettia Ornament

Supplies Needed:
3" embroidery hoop
Red, green, gold floss
6" x 6" fabric
Felt for backing 4" x 4"
Needle and thread
Cording approximately 10"
Transfer pen, pencil or desired method

The printable pattern can be found here.

Instructions:
1. Using the inner hoop, trace the circle on to the felt backing.

2. Transfer the poinsettia pattern to the center of the fabric. Place in the hoop.

3. Embroider with desired method, I did long running stitches overlapping to completely fill in the design.

4. Once finished, arrange and tighten the hoop so it is centered. Using a needle and thread run a stitch around the edge to gather and pull the fabric to the hoop center. Trim the excess fabric.

5. Sew the circle of felt to the fabric on the back of the hoop.

6. Thread the cord through the hoops screw and tie a knot.

  2. I love this ornament, Jennifer. I do have a question: Did you use all 6 strands of floss for the flower and leaves? (If not, how many strands did you use?) Thanks!
