Flashback Friday-Plant Sticks

Plant Sticks

Supplies Needed for one plant stick:

• one large ceramic bead
• approx 20 assorted seed beads and/or accent beads
• 18 gauge craft wire approximately 18 inches in length

Instructions: These plant sticks are all a little different so the instructions are basic and you can let your creativity flow on what you add to the sticks.

1. Start by making a loop, a spiral, or star at the end of your craft wire.
2. Start by stringing seed beads onto the wire. Add the ceramic bead and any accent beads you would like.
3. Finish up with some more seed beads.
4. Push all of the beads up to the top of the wire. Grab the wire just under the beads with your needle nose pliers. Twist the wire in a loop to secure the beads.

Flashback Friday-Card Holder

Card Holder

It's a card holder, but it can be used for so many other things...it could hold a photo or mistletoe, or a childs drawing. The best part, is you can make these card holders and hang them from your tree, a garland, or a door knob. How pretty would it look with your cards hanging all over it? Supplies Needed:

• one large Ceramic Tree Beads
• one small yellow star bead
• one red accent bead
• 1 badge clip
• approximately 10 inches 18 gauge craft wire

Instructions:

1. Begin by making a simple wire loop at the bottom of the wire, slide the badge clip on before closing.
2. String the accent bead, the tree bead, and the star bead onto the craft wire.
3. At the remaining end of the wire, make a small loop. After making the loop, gently turn the wire around the pliers to create a spiral shape.

Flashback Friday-Poinsettia Necklace

Poinsettia Necklace

Supplies Needed:

• 1 Ceramic Poinsettia Pendant
• 2 holly leaf charms
• 2 sets of Holiday Pearls
• 4 red and white glass bumpy beads
• 6 lime 8mm Czech faceted rounds
• 10 Red Czech 6mm faceted rounds
• 20 silver 6mm discs
• 2 silver 4mm jump rings
• 4 crimps
• 1 silver hook clasp

Instructions:

1. Begin by crimping approximately 10 inches of beading wire to each side of the poinsettia pendant.
2. Open up each jump ring and slide on a holly leaf charm. Set these aside for stringing.
3. On one side, string a red Czech bead, one holly charm, and a silver disc.
4. String a ceramic pearl, a disc, a glass bumpy, a disc, a ceramic pearl, a disc, a lime Czech.
5. Continue by stringing a disc and then follow the sequence again, listed in step 4. Follow up the last pearl with a disc, two red, a lime, and another two red discs.
6. Add a crimp and half of the silver clasp.
7. String the second side of the poinsettia necklace just as you did the first.

Flashback Friday on Saturday

Supplies Needed for One Place Card Holder:

• 1 large ceramic character bead
• Approximately 12 inches 18 gauge silver craft wire

1. Begin by taking one end of your craft wire in the tip of your needle nose pliers. Turn the pliers in a circle to create a small swirl, measuring a half inch in diameter.
2. At the base of the swirl, make a right angle with the wire.
3. Slide the large beads onto the wire.
4. At the base if the large bead bend another right angle. Grab that right angle in the tip of you pliers and create another swirl, this time going around in circles several times.
5. This will be the base that you card holder stands on so you might need to work it with your fingers to make it flat.
6. Once the base is flat you're ready to make some name cards.

Flashback Friday-Bag Charm

Bag Charm

Supplies Needed:

• 1 Ceramic Pendant with Three Bottom Loops
• 3 Coordinating Glass Beads
• 5 Black 6mm Faceted Round Czech Beads
• 3 silver 2 inch headpins
• 2 inches 20 gauge sterling silver wire
• 1 Key chain finding

Instructions:

1. Begin by stringing one of the headpins with a Czech bead and a glass bead. Make a simple wire loop and attach to the first wire loop at the bottom of the pendant.
2. Repeat step one and attach it to the last wire loop.
3. The second wire loop has a Czech bead, a glass bead, and another Czech bead. After stringing, attach it to the wire loop.
4. With your silver wire, make a wire loop and string through the pendant hole before closing.
5. String the last Czech bead in the wire and just above it make a wire loop again. This time attach the key chain finding on the loop before closing.
6. Trim any excess wire.

Flashback Friday-Holiday Inspiration

This weeks Flashback to last years Holiday project, really wasn't a project. The newsletter was jam packed full of inspiration, just not instructions. I think you can look at all of these and see how they are put together. Most of these beads are up on the website and next week, watch out, the Etsy store is going to be packed full of new Holiday. Flash Back Friday

Project Instructions:

Supplies needed for magnet or pin

1 ceramic embellishment 1 flat backed magnet or pin

1. Glue pin or magnet on back!
I know I didn't really need instructions for that did I? There so easy you can make a ton for gifts, your holiday craft shows, and more. I like to use tie tacks for the pins and rare earth magnets work great for the magnets. Those are the really tiny super strong ones.

Flash Back Friday

Project Instructions:

Supplies needed for bracelet

• 3 Bright original ceramic beads
• 1 Periwinkle 1/2" ceramic disc
• 2 lime 1/1" ceramic disc
• 1 turquoise 1/2" ceramic disc
• 16 silver balls 4mm
• Approximately 16" memory wire
• Approximately 16" black rubber tubing

1. To begin, grab the end of your memory wire at the tips of your round nose pliers. Turn the wire to make a loop. Trim any sharp wire ends.
2. String on a silver ball.
3. Cut the rubber tubing into 1 1/2" - 2" pieces. String a piece of tubing onto the memory wire.String a ceramic bead with a silver ball on each side. Continue to string a piece of tubing, ball, ceramic, ball, until the bracelet has all of the beads on it.
4. Finish by stringing on one last silver ball. Trim the wire leaving approximately 1/2 inch of wire at the end.
5. Create a loop just as you did in step one. Keep rolling up the wire until the beads are snug.

Project Instructions:

Supplies needed for one ring

• 1 large ceramic tree
• 4 candy cane tube beads
• 2 green and red glass beads
• 8 silver 4mm balls
• 26 lime green 6mm Czech rounds
• sterling silver clasp
• beading wire
• 2 crimps

1. Begin assembling your necklace by crimping one half of the clasp to the beading wire.
2. String 9 Czech rounds, a silver ball, and another Czech round onto the wire.
3. Next string a tube, a Czech, a silver ball, and a glass bead. Continue by stringing another silver ball, a Czech beads, and the second ceramic tube.
4. String a Czech bead, a silver ball, and the tree bead.
5. You have reached the center of the necklace and since it is symmetrical string the second half just as you did the first half.
6. Crimp the end of the wire to the second half of the clasp.

Flash Back Friday

Oh boy, I am back among the living. Whew, it's been a rough week of being sick here. I got an awful sinus infection that had me in bed for a week. Finally, I am on the mend. Forgive me for not being a good poster over the next few days but I have got orders to catch up on and I still have Halloween beads on the front of my website. Loosing a week of work when you're not planning on it throws you for a loop. I will catch up and be back at blogging and twittering and all that fun stuff next week. In the meantime, it's flash back Friday. Here is last year's Holiday Project from this week.

Project Instructions
Supplies Needed:

• 1 large ceramic bead
• 12 inches of 20 gauge sterling silver wire
• 2 coordinating 10mm glass beads
• 2 coordinating see beads
• pin finding with flat back
• jewelry glue
• flat nose pliers
• round nose pliers

1. Fold the wire in half. With the folded end in the tip of your round nose pliers and turn it to make a spiral.
2. String one of the glass beads and the ceramic bead onto the two ends of wire.
3. Now string a seed bead, a glass bead, and one more seed bead onto one of the ends of wire.
4. Grab that same end of wire and twist into a tight spiral.
5. With the remaining wire fold it in half and send the loose end into the ceramic bead.
6. Fold the wire so it is flat. Grab the end in the tip of your round nose pliers and twist into a loose spiral.
7. With jewelry glue, secure the pin to the back side of the large ceramic bead. Let it dry completely flat.

Flash Back Friday and Twittering

Hey Hey, It's Flashback Friday. I think this might be my favorite project of the season last year. I made a lot of these for gifts. I think that the people who didn't get them last year will get them this year. They are great for teachers. The bookmark findings are available on my site too and they are only 2.00 each, can't beat that.

Okay, before you get going on your bookmark projects I just want to say I have started twittering. I am not really sure if I know what I am getting myself into. But all the cool kids are doing it, so I thought I would try. :) You can see on my sidebar there is a little thingy that updates when I send a message. (I know I am really technical with my use of the word thingy.) Yep, you can know everything I am doing. Do you really want to know that much? I'm not sure, but I thought I would give it a try and then make a decision. Let me know what you think about the twitter.

Book Mark
Supplies needed for one bookmark

1 link bead, 1 2" headpin , 1 accent bead(I used a 6mm faceted Czech bead), 1 silver plated bookmark, round nose pliers, chain nose pliers

1. Begin by stringing your headpin with an accent bead.
2. Make a simple wire loop and hook it onto one of the wire loops of the link bead. Close the loop and trim the excess wire.
3. Open the jump ring included on your bookmark, string on the remaining loop of the ceramic link bead.

Project Instructions

Supplies needed for Bracelet

• 1 set of seaside originals
• 21 avocado 6mm teardrop pearls
• 1 sterling silver toggle
• 2 2mm crimps
• 9" beading wire

Instructions

1. Crimp one end of the beading wire to one end of the toggle. Do this by threading the crimp onto the wire and follow it with the toggle. Next bring the wire back through the crimp. Pull snug and crimp with pliers.
2. Start by stringing three of the pearls.
3. Continue by stringing a ceramic bead followed by three pearls. Once all of the beads are strung, check the length of the bracelet to make sure it is the correct length for you.
4. String on the second crimp and remaining half of the toggle. Bring the beading wire back through the crimp and a few of the pearls. Crimp the bead and trim the excess beading wire.

Flash Back Tuesday? Holiday Ornaments

Ooops! I completely forgot about Flash back Friday. We have had sick kids and then fall break, I just got sidetracked with all that was going on. I declare today Flash Back Tuesday and I will get back to my regular posting this week, I promise.

Since I was so late on blogging this week, it's a bonus day. We have started a new feature at Art Bead Scene and it's called Ten Dollar Tuesday. Every week we will be featuring a project featuring art beads that costs less than ten dollars to make. Can't beat that, can you? Today it's a fun little pendant from yours truly, so go check it out.



Holiday Ornaments Instructions:

• 1 large ceramic focal bead
  
• 4-6 accent beads
• 1 charm to coordinate
• 12" 18 gauge sterling or aluminum wire
• round nose pliers
• chain nose pliers
• wire cutters

Instructions:

1. Begin by laying out the beads the way you would like them in the wire.
2. Grab the end of the with in the tip of the round nose pliers. Turn the wire to make a small loop, keep turning the wire to make a large loop spiraling out. This will be the hook.
3. String all of the beads onto the wire, excluding the charm. Remember to string the top bead first and continue down the beads you have laid out.
4. Once the beads are strung, make a simple wire loop to finish of the wire. Before closing the loop string the charm onto the loop.

Go hang those ornaments, you're done!
