DIY Felt Succulent Broach

Felt Succulent Brooch

Pattern pieces can be found here.

Supplies:

1-3 colors of felt
Contrasting six strand floss
Sew on pin back

Instructions:

1. Cut out the felt according to the pattern pieces.

2. Start by sewing a running stitch around the outer edge of one of the smallest petals. When you get to the end of the edhes, keep the same needle and thread and start on the second. Continue until you have all three of the small petals sewn. Stitch all three of the petals together in the center.

3. Using the six, medium petals, start with one and stitch to the underneath side of the small cluster. Pinch the petal a bit when sewing to “gather” it a bit. Continue adding the five remaining petals in the same method moving around the cluster and layering them.

4. Tie a knot to secure and trim the floss.

5. Sew the four large petals just as you sewed the small pieces in step 2.  Arrange under the medium petals and sew to secure. Tie a knot and trim the floss.

6. Roll the felt to make the stem. Sew up the side to secure. Sew on to the base of the succulent.

7. Sew the pin back on to the succulent.

DIY Magic Wands

These were so much fun to make. Do you have a little person on your gift giving list this year?

Pattern Piece can be found here.

What you'll need:

5/8" Dowel Rod
Acrylic paint
Fabric for star and end
Fiberfill
3 ribbons approximately 18" in length
Hot melt glue gun

Instructions:

1. Start by painting the dowel rod with stripes.

2. Sew the two stars together with right sides facing, leave an opening at the bottom of the star. Clip the curves, turn right sides out and fill with fiberfill.

3. Place one end of the dowel in to the stuffed star as far as it will go. You might need to rearrange some stuffing to get it in there. Hand stitch the opening of the star closed around the dowel.

4. Roughly cut a 4" circle from fabric. Run a gathering stitch around the outside. Pull the thread to gather up the circle and place some fiberfill around the bottom of the circle. Place the remaining end of the dowel into the circle and pull snug. Stitch around to hold the circle tight on the wand.

5. Place all three ribbons together and tie a knot in the middle. Tack stitch to the bottom of the star in front of the dowel.

6. Use a glue gun to additionally secure the ends of the dowel into the stuffed pieces.

DIY Electronic Dusters

Happy Holidays! What?

I cannot believe that it is time to start the ten Holiday Projects again. I am shocked, but ready to start sewing and crafting up some fun projects. How about you?

I will admit, this is a project that came from needing some of these myself. Once I made them and used them, I realized that they would be a great gift for men and other hard to make for folks.
Supplies Needed:

Micro fiber, ultra suede, or terry cloth fabric for dusting side
Quilting cotton for back.
Pom pom trim (optional)
Ribbon
Coordinating Thread

Printable Pattern pieces can be found here.

Instructions:

1. Start by cutting 1 of each fabric with the pattern pieces.

2. If using trim, pin to the outer curved edge of the quilting cotton. Do not pin trim on the folded side.

3. Place the dusting fabric on top of the quilting cotton so the trim is on the inside. Sew around the outer curved edge using a 1/4" seam allowance.

4. Clip the curves and turn right side out. If desired, tie a bow with the ribbon and tack stitch on to duster.
