New Patterns in Print and PDF

Hey, Hey, Happy Tuesday! I am so happy to show you my four new Jennifer Jangles Sewing patterns. They are available in print and in PDF form and they are shipping now.

My goal for this round of sewing patterns was quick and easy. I know I love a sewing project that I can complete in an hour or so and I wanted to provide some of those as well.

The Class-y Storage pattern above is a great way to carry your sewing, quilting, crafting , etc supplies to class. The tote zips up so you can carry it with you. When you arrive at class un zip the bag and roll down the top. You've got a place to hold your tools. You will be the envy of all of your classmates with this one.

Quincy and Maggie have been a PDF for awhile now but they have been so popular I wanted them to be available in print as well.

At the top is a cute little wristlet with one of my signature flowers on it. And the Happy Birthday Cake Pin Cushion... it could be a gift for just about anyone. It's a cake you can keep! I'm going to make one for my niece, she likes to play chef.

The new patterns are in my shop and my Etsy shop. If you're looking for PDF's they are also available over at Craftsy. And if you're a quilt shop you can find them at Checkers Distributors.

Hope you like them!

Free Sewing Projects List

Seriously, I don't know what happened but I hadn't updated my Sewing Projects list for a year! I did today and I think I tripled the number of projects that are over there. If you're reading this somewhere besides my blog, the sewing projects list is on the left hand side. There are now 31 projects, so I am thinking you might find something you want to make. :)

There's a few to get you started....

Have a great day,

Sashing Stars by Marti Michell

How cute is this quilt? Okay, I'll admit those letter and number fabrics are mine, but the stars are so adorable. Marti Michell made this quilt, she's got a great sashing ruler set to make those stars. You can find out more about her and her fabulous work on her blog.

Have a great day!

Flower Pincushion and Bowl Project

Hey, Hey, Happy Wednesday! I've got a little project for you. I don't know about you but I can never have enough pin cushions or things to carry my supplies in. I am always on the quest for the perfect way to carry around my projects etc. For awhile now, when I have a "night time, movie watching while I sew project" I carry my supplies up from my studio in a little bowl. It has worked just fine until I came up with this little flower bowl. It's a little fabric bowl but its go a bit of fluff in the center to use as a pin cushion as well. Now I can stick my pins and needles in a little thread and a small pair of snips and I am set to sew.

First of all, do you remember my flower mug rug project here? Well it turns out, its the same pattern pieces. You can find and print them here.

Here's what you will need:
Petal fabric 1/8 yard
Center fabric 8" x 4"
Heavy Craft Interfacing, I used Heat n Bond Fusible Heavy Craft Weight Interfacing
Batting 4" x 4"
Small pom pom fringe 1/2 yard
Felt 4" x 4"
Fiberfill
Felt for leaf 4" x 4"
Coordinating floss

1. Start by cutting four sets of petals. Cut 4 petals from the heavy weight interfacing as well. I cut mine a 1/4" smaller so the seams would be nicer and then ironed hem on. Sew around the curved portion of the petal. Clip, turn, and press.

2. Iron on a piece of interfacing to one of the centers of the flower.

3. Divide and then mark with a pin, four quarters on the center. Start by pinning the center of one of the petals to one of the pins on the center. Continue pinning each side until it is completely pin.

4. Continue pinning the three petals on just as you did the first one in step 3. It will be a bit cumbersome at this point, but you're ready to sew around the center now. After sewing clip the edges around the center. Flip the petals up so that the center is the bottom of the bowl.

5. Take the remaining center and place a layer of batting underneath. Next, place a little larger circle of felt underneath the batting. Sew and a spill shape like marked on the pattern piece to hold everything together. Clip every 1/8-1/4 inch around the felt to create a fringe.

6. With floss hand stitch the pom pom fringe around the outside of the circle.

7. Hand stitch the center to the center of the bowl, it will be a bit larger so you'll have to gather the edge every now and then to make it fit in the center. When you gather it that bit the center will pouf up a bit in the middle. Before you reach the end of stitching the center on, tuck in a small amount of fiberfill to fill that space.

8. Cut out a leaf from the green felt. I chose to hand stitch around the outer edge of the felt leaf. Tack stitch it onto the bottom of the bowl.

Hope you had fun,

Spring Break Camping and Studio Organizing

Congrats to Julie Agler for winning the glamping week Give-A-Way. Thanks for all of your great comments and enthusiasm about the whole week as well, it was super fun.

We were able to get away for a few days this week in the camper. It was a test run to Florida, we have never pulled a trailer before, never hooked anything up....you know, we needed to learn some basics. We ended up at a great RV/campground that had a lot of retirees. A lot of our neighbors had started out in a camper just like ours. They enjoyed seeing ours and some even took pictures to send to other family members. They had loads of great advice and I'm sure they got some good laughs from us not knowing how to work a sewer hose.

I have to say the awning is still may favorite part of the whole camper, followed by my favorite glamping accessories to make my morning mochas.

Yep, I have found a camping espresso maker and a frothed for my mochas. I can't imagine a month out west without my mocha this summer. I was going to bring my big machine but Nik found these alternatives that work pretty darn well.

While I was in Florida I got to have lunch with Caroline from Sew Can She, it was fun to catch up with a friend and talk sewing and quilting. She's got a fun looking retreat planned in October in Key West for the release of her book. I really want to go.

We arrived home on Thursday and I walked in to my studio. It was an absolute disaster from all of the chaos before we left. I couldn't stand to be in there so I took Friday and Saturday to clean and rearrange some things. It's looking much better now. While I was at it, I called a contractor to come look at options for a window. I'm not sure if it can be done, but I have my fingers crossed.

Now that the studio is clean, I am working on some new sewing patterns that will be out in May just in time for Quilt Market and I'm sewing up a new project for you that will be in my newsletter later this week.

Talk to you soon,

Glamping Week, Cushions, Walls, and Curtains

Happy Friday! Were getting there on the little camper. I had a set back yesterday when I discovered that two of the seat cushions had been cut wrong. I have to take some thing apart and sew them back together, but now everyone has a bed to sleep on, whew!

Nik and I hung the curtains last night and started moving some things in to the storage area. I am finding it takes a lot of thought to get all those nooks and crannies filled the best way.

We also go the table back in place. It's a bit beat up but it has gold glitter in it that matches the floor so we decided to keep it the way it is.

Then as I said yesterday I had plans for the woodgrain wall we decided to leave. I made up a sheet of decals in my Photoshop program and took them to my local printer. They were able to laser cut vinyl from my image.

Heres the sheet as I am cutting apart all of the words and pieces.

I taped them in to place so I could see where I wanted them. This took me about ten try's before I was happy.

You peel off the backing and with a credit card smooth the vinyl down so that there aren't any air bubbles.

The front peels off and then you have a permanent decal.

I chose a Dr. Seuss quote, "Oh the things you can find if you don't stay behind ".

I also hung up my retro glittered fish that I bought awhile back. It's really the only thing I have for the walls so far. I wanted to get the curtains and cushions in first. We also want to collect things from our travels to hang on the walls. Unfortunately, that's going to take awhile so I will have to keep popping in with those updates as they happen.

It's going to be raining today so I am going to have to give it a day or two before I can get some awning with lights shots, but those and my other improvements will be coming. In the meantime I took some more photos of my fairy garden so here are those.

And don't forget to enter the Give-A-Way, just a few more days to go.

Glamping Week continues with lots of Paint!

Hey Hey, pippin in for day four of Glamping week to show you the process. We have been working hard and are still working so I don't have tons to show you today. It's been a TON of painting. In honor of glamping week I made a miniature garden for my front porch with my little camper and pin cushion bunting.

We got new tires, hooray!

I polished the hubcaps. I can't believe how shiny they are now and I didn't have to touch up the red paint at all.

And then the reason I don't have many pictures, we've been painting and painting. It has taken us four coats to get the wood covered up.

I had originally wanted to leave this wood grain and then we thought we might paint it. Once we started painting and it was taking so long. We decided we should go back to our original plan of woodgrain. I have plans for this wall and I am hoping I will be able to show you tomorrow.

We touched up the rest of the painting in the kitchen as well. I started loading up the drawer and cabinets with the essentials. I just had to take a photo of my silverware. It's one of my favorite purchases. It's a set of all mis-matched handles.

Okay tomorrow is move in day....should be exciting and I hope to have lots of pictures for you!
Have a great day,
