New Beads On Etsy

Look to your right....See the Jangles Etsy Store link? Click on it.

I just added a whole bunch of new bead sets, mixes, and best of all a few sets of the beads from the cover of my book.

I was Inspiration!

I got an e-mail from someone yesterday. She told me she loved my new book and that she was a glass bead maker. She went on to say I inspired her to make some stick beads in glass. Of course, I was curious to see what someone could come up with in glass. I checked out her blog and there it was...a fabulous necklace. Check it out here. So we did some more e-mailing and I did some more checking out of her blog and website. This someone is Kerry Bogert. I have seen her beads and jewelry in lots of magazines. It's really wonderful. We have a similar fun and bright look. We chatted some more and we are thinking of doing a collaboration pieces down the road. How fun!

Also, while your surfing.....my website has some new beads. Stick beads are up and available for purchase. I am working on some new designs with them now. I am seeing all kinds of possibilities, so stay tuned to see what I come up with.

Have a great day,
Jennifer

Bead and Button Finds

So you can't go to Bead and Button without doing a little shopping, right? I wanted to show you what I bought. I got some really great stuff. These are beads and findings you will see later down the road in projects. Above are some great findings I got at Fusion Beads. They have a lot of really unique beads.

These lovely links were made especially for me by Kristi Evenson at Coliebug Beads. She has a lot of really great components like pendants and toggles in metal that she hand stamps and solders. Stay tuned because I have a project in the October Simply Beads with one of her pieces.
How fun are these? Cathy at Glass Garden Beads is making these fabulous pop can beads. I love them. They need to be with Jangles beads in a piece.
Here is some Hill Tribe Silver and felt balls that I bought from The Bead Goes On. I really like there selection of beads. I think I buy beads from them every year at the show.

Chain, I had to have chain. It is so popular in jewelry design right now. I really like these because it is silver plated brass. First of all, it's not as expensive as silver but it just has a nice old look to it. Adornments always has a wide selection of unique chains.

Now I just need to find some time to play with my new beads.

Sources

Hi everyone,
If you were a student at one of my classes at the Bead and Button show, your beads are in the mail. Expect them soon. They turned out fabulous! Above you can see some of the beads that were made. I wish I could put all of them up but there were tons of beads coming out of the kilns this week.

Now that my book has come out and I have been teaching some classes, people are wondering where I buy my supplies. I buy everywhere and I think the best way to buy is locally. If you can find a ceramic supplier in your area then you can go and browse glazes and clay types. There are tons of test tiles and samples to see. It really is the best way to buy. Plus there are people who the run the shops that know all kinds of information to help. I am happy to drive an hour to my local shop, it is worth it.

If you can't find a supplier close by here are a few places online that can help. Also, google ceramic suppliers, you will find many more sources beyond these.

Things are growing around here...

Oh boy, I went away for a couple of weeks and everything seemed to multiply! Our garden has exploded. Here my old post where I showed you a picture of the garden after we had just planted it. We have since then harvested, collard greens, onions, lettuce, and tomatoes. We are even replanting some rows that we have used up. Yep we eat a lot of veggies, we're vegetarians. Anyway the basil, tomatoes, and tomatillos are starting to explode now. We plan on making loads of salsa and pasta sauces this summer.
Here's another growing thing. My puppy. Here is the old post of this little guy. Hard to believe that was in January and it is now June. He is seven months old now and quite huge. We thought we were getting a 30 pound beagle! Hmm... but we adore him anyway, he is a great dog and is already at 50 pounds and climbing. Too bad he doesn't eat vegetables, we've got plenty.

Speaking of growing, there's one more thing. It's my Etsy shop! Woohoo! I have added some great new things that I don't have on the web site. I also included my glass bead mixes with the beads so all you need to do is string something up. No guess work with colors. I have plans to keep growing my Etsy shop over the next few weeks so keep watching.

Have a great day!

2008 Bead and Button Show

Hello There! I am back....Just barely though. We got home late last night. I am starting to unpack and getting things back in order. I really hate living out of bags so I have been working hard to get back to normal around here today. Above are some shots from the Bead and Button show. I will have more later, plus I want to show you my great finds and what I made in class.

All in all, the show was a great success and a ton of fun. I love getting together with beady people. While I was in Milwaukee I got to teach two ceramic bead workshops, debut my book officially, and sell some beads, I was on the go the whole time. I loved meeting some new people and getting to see some of my great customers in person. It's always nice to put a face with a name.

I hope everyone who was at the show made it home safely. Milwaukee had some terrible storms come through while we were at the show. You'll be hearing more from me later....

Have a great day,
Jennifer
